I initially contacted the hotel through email direct. They were most helpful but requested that I send my card details via email to reserve (wasn't too keen to do that) so I ended up booking through venere.com which did the trick.
The hotel is good value at 80 euros a night for a bright, modern double bed room, with flat screen tv, air conditioning, double glazed (opening) bay windows onto a small balcony. We did not take the breakfast, which would have been convenient, but at 8 euros each seemed a bit surplus to requirement.
The location of the hotel is between the station and the Promenade des Anglais (ocean front) and is about 8 minutes walk from either point. Its about 15 minutes to the old town on foot. The area is definitely as safe as any city centre location could be, nicely away (but not too far) from the slightly more seedy station area.
The staff were discreet and helpful when needed in a typically gracious (if not slightly formal) French manner. If you need to iron your clothes, you must call reception to go down and collect an iron - perhaps a reflection of the cost of a room, but a small price to pay. Our room had a full bathroom with a tub and shower attachment, but unfortunately no shower curtain, which made showering interesting!
All in all, a good place to stay. Oh, and there's a supermarket right next door open until 7.30 most days. No minibar or fridge in the room though - worth bearing in mind.
