We were 4 family members, occupying one double room and one twin bed room. As we've stayed here before, we knew to ask for quiet rooms which come at a slightly higher rate than their most basic rooms, which overlook the street--this is definitely worth the little extra, in our view. These rooms were attractively furnished, very comfortable and clean, with a good bathroom and a reasonable standard of amenities--especially given the hotel's 2 star rating. The breakfast served in the pretty breakfast room is quite good, and exactly what one would expect of a hotel of this rating. The location cannot be bettered for walking to many of the city's attractions, close to transport to explore further afield, and wide choice of restaurants right at the door and in nearby streets. Those travellers with a car need to know that the hotel is located in a pedestrianised street and has no parking on site. There is a public parking station nearby however, which we've used in the past, but not required on this visit. There are certainly more lavish hotels in Nice, but frankly speaking, there probably isn't one better at this price and location. Although we've stayed elsewhere in Nice, we return to Le Regence as our first preference, given its outstanding value for money for a city hotel, and its location.

A superd location for a very basic, clean and cheap hotel. If your not looking to spend alot of time in your hotel, and in Nice you wont be, this is ideal. Helpful friendly staff, everything you would want out of an economy hotel for a weekend break.

Fantastic. Location great, near the Promenade, the shopping (a stone's throw from Jean Medecin) and the old town. Staff very friendly, everyone there. Rooms clean and beds comfy. No noise as we stayed in a room facing the inner yard, you might want to ask fort those if youre noise sensitive. Unbelievable that this was only 80 euros a night for a classic double room. Also; nice lounge with big-ass flat screen TV. Breakfast OK, but we ate at cafes nearby most of the time. Loads of restaurants outside the hotel. Other general recommendations for Nice: Enjoy the Promenade, go to Antibes instead of over-hyped Monte Carlo/Monaco. Cheap shopping: Monoprix, av Jean Medecin, also there was a mens clothing store opposite the hotel entrance.

This hotel is no frills (no mini-bar, spartan decorations, etc.) but is impeccably clean, centrally located and a great bargain (i.e., it is exactly what you should expect from a good 2-star hotel). The service was great (all of the front-desk people spoke at least some english and were always very pleasant) and the location really can't be beat (on touristy rue Massena, a few blocks from the beach and just 5-10 minutes from the old town). Our only complaint was that the walls are a bit thin (i.e., it can be loud when people come and go or when the cleaning ladies are in the next room). Other than that, this is a good choice for budget travelers or for families.
