In all fairness, I only got as far as the lobby and that was enough. I booked the hotel for it's inexpensive rates and great location and it does have both of those things. However, I was unwilling to overlook the peeling paint, the ripped couch partially covered with a torn and faded blanket, the fabric draped ceiling that was moldy and the pervasive odor plus the fact that there is no elevator and it was next door to a very active "biker bar" and I don't mean scooters. I managed, with the not so helpful help of the desk person at Villa La Tour, to reserve another room at The Hotel Campanile (a European hotel chain) just 2 blocks away and with the same inexpensive room rates. I was also required, as a cancellation penalty,to pay for a one night stay at Villa La Tour. So beware. If "the Old Town" and inexpensive is what you are looking for but you would like to rest your head on a clean pillow, head for Hotel Campanile and stay far away from Villa La Tour
