Date of our stay was May 2013 and I am new to social media so apologies for the delay in writing this review.
My wife and I wanted to do something special in order to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, and by chance found ourselves staying at this magnificent hotel as part of a cruise ship booking, via Azamara Club Cruises for an overnight stay the day before we joined our ship at Nice. Who would have thought that staying in a hotel the night before a luxury cruise would have set the bar so high and potentially made joining the ship an anti climax. Having been on a number of cruises before, had it not been an Azamara Club cruise (Azamara Quest), our expectations would have suffered due to the bar being set so high.
We arrived at the hotel on the same day as the Monaco Grand Prix and although probably one of the busiest days of the year for the staff, you would not have known as they all made us feel very welcome from the moment we walked through the door. As we had arrived early we were advised every effort would be made to ensure our room would be made available as early as possible. Not really expecting this to really happen we left our luggage and went off to explore Nice. As we finished lunch than we were surprised to receive a call to confirm our room was now ready. As we were escorted to our room by somebody from reception along with a porter with our cases, even walking down the corridor to our room set the stage for the wow factor for everything else that was to follow.
As we entered our room we were not expecting the ambience and decor of the room itself, let alone all of the little finishing touches that far exceeded our expectations, such as the little gifts of tasty macaroons and much more besides. You really could not have asked for anything more as they had thought of everything. We had a truly amazing time and enjoyed all of the facilities on offer including the spa (lovely fluffy dressing gowns and slippers provided in your room).
However, the beautiful decor and ambience of the hotel with the white theme carried throughout, is not the best thing about staying here, it was the entire staff who were all fantastic in every way and mainly for this reason if I can explain as follows; The majority of the other guests were fellow Brits and we did not realise at the time as we had breakfast with them until we left on our transfer coach, they were in fact part of a large group of Ferrari owners who had used the hotel as their base whilst attending the Grand Prix weekend. As they gathered outside in their cars (stopping the traffic as it passed), and I commented to my wife that the matching Ferrari luggage sets the porters were loading in their cars cost more than our holiday, this is why this hotel and staff our special. This is because we were made to feel equally as welcome as guests of the hotel and very rare in life they had totally exceeded our expectations.
So in summary the Boscolo Exedra Nice has set the bar for us in terms of both the quality of the hotel itself, but more importantly the value of exceeding customers expectations and we have still to experience this again elsewhere. A belated but heartfelt thank you to the staff at this fantastic hotel and we look forward to when we visit again.
