I stayed here for 7 days for a conference in Nice, since the hotels in the city proper were sold out for the dates I needed. I paid EU 336/night plus taxes.

The hotel has a free shuttle to/from the airport, but I didn't do all my homework before I arrived, so I didn't know how to call them. The taxi fare was EU25 for a relatively short distance. As many reviewers mentioned, the CAP3000 mall is within walking distance and really, that's about it unless you are here solely to soak up the sun.

When I arrived, the staff was courteous and helpful; all spoke very good English and I was able to check in early. The lobby area is very nice, with leather couches that gave me hope for a very nice room.

My nonsmoking room was on the 4th floor facing the expressway. It wasn't until I opened the glass door to the balcony that I really heard any noise. There are two elevators and both are decently sized for the hotel. The hallway was nicely lit and had motion sensors to help conserve energy.

I ended up with two queen beds, which was OK. However, I was disappointed for with the room. It reminded me of a standard Courtyard or Hampton Inn room but a bit run down. There were gouges in the wallpaper and the furniture was a little rough. However, the room was very clean and smelled fresh.

The toilet is separate from the shower and sink. One reviewer mentioned how nice that was when traveling with family. I found it annoying because there was no place to wash my hands in the toilet room. The sink and shower area were decently sized, but I had be careful getting in and out of the bathtub because it was set higher off the floor than I am used to.

The beds were comfortable but nothing spectacular. There was a small seating area and a work desk which was nice. The patio was decently sized. The mini-refrigerator had several overpriced items. Lafayette Gourmet is located in CAP3000, so pick up your snacks there. Unfortunately, there is nothing closer.

There was a shelving area right by the door which was very nice for suitcases. A few of the light switches didn't work and there were far too few plugs for a business traveler like me.

The hotel bar is okay and I didn't order room service. Like many European hotels, service is offered during limited hours. Breakfast is included with the hotel cost. Now, I have stayed at several European hotels that offer complimentary breakfast. There were a few menu items that were particularly nice here, such as the mixed berries and fresh yogurts. However, the scrambled eggs were absolutely terrifying! Watery and lumpy. The other hot menu items were OK but nothing spectacular.

There are numerous restaurants along the short stretch, from Thai to Italian to Chinese. Most spoke English, so it was very helpful for me and they were reasonably priced. The hotel's own restaurant on the coast was OK.

I did not check out the pool while I was there.

Bus service from CAP3000 was unreliable, which was very frustrating. Sadly, the front desk neglected to tell me about the train station, which is a 10 minute walk through a somewhat rundown area. For EU 8.50, you could purchase a round-trip ticket to Monte Carlo. If I had know about the train earlier in my trip, I would have definitely used it instead of a taxi to get to Nice proper.

I wouldn't stay here again, though. While the rooms were clean and the staff nice, it was overly priced and too far from the city. The intermittent bus service was very annoying and the train station just a little too far for a single female traveler to walk to/from by her self during non-peak hours.

“Nice rooms and good location”

Holiday Inn Resort Nice - Port St Laurent

I booked the Holiday Inn Resort Nice for the first night of a 5 night break. For the remaining nights we stayed in Nice itself.
Overall it was an ok place to go for the first night. Close to the airport, but the shuttle did take about 25 mins to get to us.
The rooms are nice, we had a room on the forth floor with a bit of a view of the sea and the airport. Although you could see the airport the noise wasn't really a problem. We didn't use the restaurant as there a loads of places to eat on around the port.
We also walked over to the CAP 3000 shopping mall, not great the shops in Nice are much better.
Overall, I preferred our hotel in Nice itself.

We had a lovely 4 day break in this area. The views are great (Not at all dominated by the airport as others have said) and the seafront area is fabulous to walk along, there was even a mainly sandy beach part in front of the hotel. We enjoyed watching the wind surfers taking off into the air and never saw a cloud in all 4 days while it was snowing back in Cheshire! The pools weren't open because of the time of year. Rooms very clean and spacious with separate toilet to the bathroom which is useful as a family. One room had a view of the mountains and town and the other of the sea and the hotel gardens. We had balconies in both rooms.
To be honest we only booked this hotel because my husband uses Holiday Inn hotels whenever he travels with business so had accrued many privilege points which can be exchanged for free nights. Combined with cheap Bmi baby flights to Nice we thought it would be a great long weekend for us and our 2 teenage boys and my Dad. (Dad had to pay for his room!) We would have chosen the holiday inn hotel in town centre Nice but they did not seem to allow us to have the children in the room with us.
The shuttle from the airport was great you use the courtesy phone at the information desk and the shuttle came within minutes. All the staff were very friendly and spoke good English. We were surprised they didnt have a supply of bus timetables but they told us how and where to catch the bus into Nice.
We were planning to mainly use the hotel as a base to explore the area but I started with a very bad back and so we spent more time close to the hotel and really enjoyed it. There are lots of lovely restaurants along the sea front We used Dylanos just out of the back of the hotel and to the left for lunch one day and dinner another day and icecream on the beach. It was good value, friendly and tasty. Our 14year old loves mussels so we went to the far end of the port and had an excellent meal in Le bar a Moules great value at 10 euro for a huge bowl of moules and frites. We didnt eat breakfast in the hotel- at 18 euros it seemed steep for 4 of us! We had it in the Cap3000 at the end of the road one day and also bought pain au chocolat and croissant in the Paul part of the Galeries Lafayette food hall and ate them in the room All in all it made a fabulous break for us all.

“Lovely hotel in Saint Laurent Du Var”

Holiday Inn Resort Nice - Port St Laurent

We have just returned after staying for 7 nights at Holiday Inn in Saint Laurent Du Var. What a fantastic place! The hotel is located just 5 minutes from airport. The hotel has a free shuttle bus to drive you from/to the airport, but remember to give them a call and order it to come. The hotel has a nice reception and the staff is friendly and speaks English very well. The rooms are big and very well equipped. There’s WIFI in the rooms but it’s too expensive – 10 EURO for 1 hour.

It’s a great hotel situated on a beautiful promenade with various restaurants. The beach promenade is very different to the hectic beach in Nice town centre. It’s far more relaxed and cleaner.
The hotel has a private beach and pool area, which is excellent and by the way ideal for families with young children, as it is safe and secure, but remember to say that you stay at Holiday Inn or else you will be charged 17 Euro in entrance fee instead of 7 Euro. In the weekend the pool area is very packed by local residents.

Cap 3000, one of France's biggest shopping centres is only 5 minutes away. We enjoyed the Lafayette Gourmet which is a Gourmet food store.
The rail station is only 10-15 minutes walk away and you can get trains to anywhere along the Cote D'Azur.

We have had that best holiday ever and would recommend the place and the hotel anytime.

“Not fulfilling its potential”

Holiday Inn Resort Nice - Port St Laurent

I'll be brief this time, as I've written twice previously regarding this hotel.
Pros: minibus shuttle to and from airport, effective front desk service, swimming pools ideal for families with young children, spacious and clean rooms that can accommodate four- a rare commodity on the Cote d'Azur, flat-screen tv in room, decent bathrooms with separate toilet, balconies facing the Med if you pay for a sea view room, a wonderful barman originally from Turkey (when he's on duty), vast choice of restaurants for eating out within walking distance, safe area for families, peace and tranquility, fantastic shopping within walking distance (Galleries Lafayette and best shopping mall on the Cote d'Azur), relatively cheap parking with plenty of spaces underground at 10euros per night, bus and train connections within walking distance, ideal location as a base for the whole area between Cannes and Menton-on Motorway in 5 mins if need be, decent sun lounges on Cocody Beach, taking breakfast outside in a relaxed atmosphere, meal in hotel restaurant right on the beach (hit or miss-just like the hotel itself), hotel bills are generally correct and altered according to guests' demands.

Cons: young and eager barman from France that closed bar just after 11pm so that he could finish work, breakfast that hasn't changed in 7 years- awful bacon and scrambled egg, tomatoes with herbs that nobody seem to eat, potatoes, only one fruit juice, unable to cope with peak activity (sounds familiar?), lack of servicing tables and clearing used plates, uneven supply of food and replenishing dishes, no distinction (apart from price reduction) between locals and hotel guests on Cocody Beach, guests not made to feel special or valued (barman from Turkey an exception), uninspired seating area in bar, children of hotel guests have to pay pool attendants for pool toys and to play table tennis.
So, in deciding whether this hotel's for you- balance the pros and cons. This year we had an upgrade to a suite (best room in the hotel) -rack rate £300+ per night. We paid £160 for a sea view room without breakfast. The hotel could have a lot going for it. In fact I could make it a thriving establishment, given the right staff and six months to show them what needs to be done.

    • Liked — sitting on the balcony late at night and looking out over the Med in peaceful and tranquil surroundings
    • Disliked — service at breakfast, yet again.
