“Great place for stay - perfect for short day trips”

Villa St. Maxime

4 May 2008

We recently had 2 seaview rooms that were just perfect for our foursome. The Villa is a great base - great hosts - perfectly clean and awesome breakfast including champagne.

It's easy to do trips to Vence, Cannes, Monaco, Nice, Biot and other places. We had a car without GPS and did well navigating around.

John and Ann were so great - happy hour at 7 PM - breakfast when we wanted - allowed us to play cards nightly. Fortunately for us we were staying during an off season time and on 2 or 3 nights of our 7 night stay were on our own, so we didn't annoy anyone. Just a perfect place to have been too.

Even with a week here - there are plenty of other places nearby to visit that we missed and it would be easy to stay here again to enjoy other sites.

“A Beautiful Place in a Beautiful Part of the World”

Villa St. Maxime

2 May 2008

The Villa St. Maxime is a beautiful villa located in the hills overlooking the Med. The hosts John and Ann were extremely gracious and made us feel extremely welcome in a very relaxed and kind manner.
Our room was very nice and spotlessly clean. The open area in the Villa was beautiful and on the patio there is a spectacular view of the area. The swimming pool looked inviting, but during April the temperature is between 15-22C, a little chilly for a dip.
Ask John to teach you how to open a champagne bottle with a sword!
The breakfasts were very nicely done, with cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt and rolls being served. In addition, the Villa includes several hot egg dishes which are delicious.
The Villa is located within a 10 minute walk of the ancient hilltop town of St. Paul. There you will find numerous art galleries, restaurants and a view overlooking the valley that is spectacular.
My wife and I found the location perfect as a staging point for day trips around the area. Nice, Antibes, Cannes, and Monaco are within a short 15-45 minute drive away. I would recommend a rental car, however, bus service is readily available a short walk away that will take you to the train station which will open up the entire Cote D'Azur area.
With the A8 tollway a 10 minute drive away, it is quite easy to explore much further abroad. This opens up a day trip to Genoa in Italy or Orange in Provence and all points in between.
We highly recommend this lovely destination.

This is a beautiful Bed and Breakfast in a beautiful part of the world. The decor is wonderful, the view of the Mediterranean is spectacular and Ann & John's hospitality is fantastic. We have stayed here before and will definitely be back.

Villa St Maxime lived up to its reputation and more!
Accomodation is superb but the whole experience is enhanced by the attentive hosts Ann and John + all the staff. A holiday here is something to be remembered with great pleasure.
The Villa's public rooms and terraces are beautiful with views across the valley and down to the sea. St Paul is a short walk uphill and any trips further afield can be made easily by the local bus which travels from Vence to Nice for the cost of 1euro!
We found our way to Monaco and back, down to Antibes and up to Vence without the hassle of the hired car and essential sat nav.
This is a very special place and nobody will be disappointed if Villa St Maxime is their choice.

We stayed here for three nights recently. Hosts and owners Ann and John are helpful and entertaining, and attract an interesting clientele. Great location, just down the hill from the charming walled medieval enclave of St Paul de Vence. Comfortable, charming rooms with great views.

All in all, just about perfect for a restful stay in the Cote-d'Azur.
