My husband and I just got back from staying at Le Mas de Pierre with a large group and although we had a good time during our trip, the time spent at this hotel was not the same. They are not ready to cater to a large group of people (who are paying top dollar for their vacation...) Service is basically non-existent. Breakfast was supposed to be included in the price but it wasn't (they charged 25 euro per person, even though all I had was a coke) They had champagne for everyone's arrival out in the garden which we later found out they charged 110 euro per person, even though some didn't drink or only had one glass. lWhenever you wanted something no one was around. Our first dinner there was a disaster.

What really sealed the deal was trying to check out. They had massive charges that didn't make sense. They weren't subtracting initial payments made before the trip, eventhough they we're already paid for... The general manager, who spoke spanish, was called to help us out with the french, saw what was happening and just left. he didn't want to get involved...

It's too bad because the location of this hotel is breathtaking, the room was very nice, the bed incredibly comfortable. We will never go back, and I don't recomend it to anyone; it will put a cramp on your stay.

What was supposed to be a relaxing weekend away with a friend was marred by service that ranged from non existent to grudging.
Junior staff were charming, when they could be found, but the overall impression was that the hotel management were doing us a favour allowing us to stay there.
The hotel is in a pretty setting and the pool and sauna are lovely however the interior decor is kitsch and makes the place feel like a themed resort.
A room service supper was overpriced for what it was and breakfast was simply forgotten until we telephoned a reminder.
Similarly a request for a taxi was forgotten.
We booked dinner for 9pm one evening, arriving in plenty of time, but we were ignored despite three reminders to staff and only seated at 9.45pm without apology or explanation.
Dinner was elaborate but distinctly average although I had lost the will to live by the time it arrived!
We won't be coming back.

“Good, but expensive and misses the mark in some important area”

Positives

Rooms/Pool: The gardens, pool and rooms make for a relaxing setting. In good weather, sitting by the pool reading a book can be very nice indeed. The rooms are well appointed, excellent beds – which is very important. Good bathroom with separate toilet. Nice terrace with good furniture.

The pool is a good size large with very nice pool side areas and sun beds, cabanas etc. This is a key differentiator and benefit versus most hotels in the village.

Staff: Helpful and friendly.

Negatives:

Rooms: The décor style is a mix of distressed Provencal and flouncey baroque - but combined with the fact that it’s nearly 100% new and reproduction, it has a with a touch of the Disney about it. Not sure how well the decor will age, without regular makeovers.

The bathroom, particularly the bath itself, missed the first class mark in terms of quality of building materials and fittings.

Little touches missed the mark too – the bathrobes come with a warning that they contain an alarm that will go off if you attempt to remove them from the premises! What kind of clientele are they expecting?? Surely the better policy would be to add the cost of the robe to your bill if you remove it? Rather than the shame of the scene at reception caused as the alarm goes off and your luggage is opened and the item removed! Extraordinary.

Restaurant: Disappointing food. Obviously trying to be of a standard (and priced at a standard), but failing to meet that standard. Service was not first rate and our bottle of wine did not come. Room service food was not very good either.

Due to the location of the hotel (A steep ½ hour walk from the village. A taxi ride) they have a pretty captive market for food – so the cost and quality of the food is unacceptable. They need to make it cheaper or make it better (or both!).

On the other hand, the staff were very good at recommending other restaurants to eat at.

Frankly, what a surprise!
We stayed at Le Mas de Pierre in July and the hotel was simply outstanding! The junior suite where we stayed, n°202, was decorated in blue colour and it has a pretty private garden. The gardens, the pool and the restaurant were so good!
But waht made the difference was the staff. They were all very kind and professional. Luca, the concierge, was really a star! He suggested every day a different beach, so we could try all the differences of the coast: The nicest one was the Club Dauphin at the Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat! What a paradise. The restaurants he suggested where all good, especially the Bacon at Cap d'Antibes, where we ate the best Bouillabaisse ever!
We will surely come back!
