I booked a short weekend break to Marseille having paid almost nothing for the flight.
I was a little concerned having read some of the reviews about Marseille, safety etc.
The hotel is really nice. The staff are friendly and obliging. The location is great, right by the port and metro. The room was small, but totally fine. Clean, nice bathroom. It had a small balcony overlooking part of the port. Kind of quirky, individual hotel. Breakfast was OK, nothing to get excited about. I didn't feel at all unsafe in Marseille, the city is lively, busy, plenty to see and do and the people were invariably friendly and helpful ( I don't speak any French) Go to Cassis, gorgeous town by the sea.

Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff, nice clean hotel with big room and big toilet. The hotel is just next to Vieux Port Metro Station. There is a big shopping mall and Lafayette supermarket in A few mins walk. Although the hotel is small, there is a small elevator.

Reasonable price, I booked a standard room for 2 nights with average Euro135 per night.

The only thing is no electric water kettle in the room. Not able to make any hot drinks inside the room.

I stayed at the hotel in mid July 2009 with my boyfriend and his sister, we had two rooms on different floors, and both were really good. The rooms were very spacious and the bathrooms were the most impressive of our trip. Our room had three sets of double doors that opened onto a sunny balcony, great decor (arabian theme in our room, safari theme in the other) and very clean and tidy. The staff were great, they were very knowledgeable and helpful when we asked how to get to beaches & Aix en Provence (worth a day trip).

The location of the hotel couldn't be better - right in the heart of the port, close to restaurants, markets, shopping. We walked to the beaches (we like a long walk - but bus is an easy option also).

Overall I thought this is one of the better places of stayed in France, would not hesitate to recommend it.

We spent two nights in this hotel in a superior room which was specious. The room lacked tea/coffee making facilities which is a touch that makes a difference in order to feel comfortable. There was a very strong smell in the room and the air conditioning would make a regular clicking noise which disturbed our sleep so we decided to switch it off. Fridge in the room was useless as it didn't cool the drinks properly. On the top of the table there are three small jars containing nuts and M&Ms however the price of them is a joke as they cost 6 euros each which is a robbery. Breakfast expensive unless you make sure you eat for the whole day, they are missing business because of not thinking of people that just want a juice, coffee and a cake.
Reception staff are very polite and friendly which is a very important part of the service.

If you want to stay close to the harbor , restaurants and shopping, this is the perfect hotel to stay at. Subway right around the corner as well as the bus taking you to the beach about 20minutes away.
The staff (especially one man, can´t remember his name) was friendly and helpful greeting you with a smile.
The standard rooms were a bit small but clean with great beds and althought we had a church right outside our window the bells didn´t bother us as much as we thought they would. Our friends had an open air-vent where mosquitos found their way in. It says that the hotel is renovated but it smells of mold in the stairway, not so nice.
