My husband & I stayed here at the end of October 2006. The time of year was beautiful, we had very nice weather.

We stayed at 3 hotels in France during our trip and this was by far our favorite. It had the charm we were looking for and we were able to experience the culture of St Remy by staying at this hotel.

The location was perfect. It was a quick walk into town (2 blocks) and there is a grocery store right accross the way. They serve a nice breakfast but if you have a room with a kitchen you can stock up at the local grocery store.

If you enjoy walking the walk to the Ruins of Glanum & the Asylum of Saint-Paul is not far. (Asylum of Saint-Paul is where Van Gogh was voluntarily confined, here he painted "Starry Night" and "Self-Portrait")

The people who own the hotel and there workers were wonderful. Their English was great and they were helpful giving us local information.

The price was a great deal. I would recommend this hotel to all age groups.

They also have a secure gate that closed in the evening- the guests get the code, so you can come & go at night. This was a nice plus and made you feel comfortable.

We stayed in room #33, it was a townhouse syle. It had 2 floors. 2 Bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and the bathroom was on the 2nd floor.

We agree with all other comments, a great little two star hotel, with a perfect location. Great reading lights by bed, compared to the usual “save the world fluorescents”. Note no air conditioning. Box fan in the closet. Room 15, nice sized corner room on ground floor with good-sized bathroom with tub/shower 64 € single or double with 7€ pp breakfast buffet. No eggs, meats or cheeses but yoghurt, cereal and juice. No wi-fi but direct dial-up in rooms and I finally got to use the weird French phone connector I have been carrying for all these years. It is “T” shaped, about 1 ½ inches tall.

Stayed two nights in one of the apartments ('The Studio') in October 2006, at 81 Euros per night.

The decor is traditional Provencal, rather than modern international. Kitchen small, but bedroom, bathroom and living/dining room all a good size. All rooms pleasant and tasteful. Bathroom contained shower, but no bath. Hot water appears to be heated as it is used - so if one runs the hot water at low pressure, it goes cold.

Reasonably equipped, though fridge looked a little old, and the iron looked like it needed replacing. No aircon, but not needed in October.

The place was clean - though there was a large slug making its way across the kitchen floor on our final morning. (Just part of the traditional Provencal feel?)

It was also very quiet, despite being very convenient for the town centre.

The Hotel consists of buildings around a central courtyard. The courtyard is very pleasant, and would be even nicer looking if there were no cars there, but the parking space is necessary!

If I'm in St Remy again, looking for a Hotel, this is where I would stay.

Hotel du Soleil has an Excellent Location! We stayed in a the apartment and it was "homey" and well stocked with coffeemaker, microwave and toaster. . It had a kitchenette and a good sized living/ dining area, . It did not have air and I think during a hot spell, it would have been uncomfortable. My biggest complaints were the very thin, yellowed and frayed towells, and no English speaking channels on the telly. Management, when we checked in said they had "lost" their BBC and CNN, AND IN TIME IT SHOULD RETURN, we asked the each day if BBC had returned and they said not yet. Finally when checking out, they finally admitted that they never "had" BBC or CNN,,,said they were too expensive to carry. Well that is a differant story,,,,I really hate to be lied to. Nevertheless, it was comfortable stay all in all.

We had a very pleasant 5-night stay at the Hotel du Soleil. It was extremely quiet at night. It is a short pleasant walk to the center of St-Remy, which has an abundance of restaurants and a great weekly market. I'm not sure that our room was air-conditioned, but we didn't need it during our stay.

The private parking lot has a code-operated gate at night. Good swimming pool, but bring your own towels. Breakfast on the terrace was especially relaxing.
