The hotel is located in Serrieres, an uninspiring village next to the Rhone, right next to a busy road junction. It's in a very convenient location if you need to get on the road quickly and the quality of the accommodation itself is high; the rooms are nicely decorated and spacious. The proximity to the junction might put you off, but the double glazing is extremely efficient - we couldn't hear the road from the room - and the views of the river and the bridge are pleasant. It has a restaurant that is fairly highly rated - however it was far too pricey for us and lacked atmosphere; we ate just down the road ( 2 mins walk) at the Bateau d'Emile restaurant, which was fine though not outstanding.
However, here is the downside. We had telephoned the day before to book a room and I was quoted two rates - one at 65 euros and one at 68. I took the more expensive one as it had a river view. When we came to check out, there was a different person on duty and the price we were asked to pay was 88 euros, not 68. I queried it but was told I was mistaken. As my French is far from perfect I paid up, but then after a few miles and time to think I realised that of course I would know the difference between soixante and quatre-vingts. I don't know what happened and I'm not saying it was intentional, but I do know that I hadn't misheard. Consequently if you decide to stay here make sure you confirm the room rate when you check in.
