The location of this hotel is the best in Annecy. Situated right in the heart of the old town on the canal, you could not ask for a more convenient location. You can walk to all the best restaurants and stores. We even walked to the train station, but I don't recommend doing that because our suitcases and the cobblestone streets did not make ifor a pleasant experience. The rooms are on the small side, but they are impeccably clean and the bathrooms were modern and spotless. The breakfast was also heartier than most other continental breakfasts I've had in France. Overall, I had an amazing experience!

We stayed at the Hotel du Palais De L'isle this past May.

Annecy is worth the trip. The hotel is the old section of town, and cars are not allowed on the street where the hotel is located. The taxis can drive you to the general vicinity of the hotel, and then you have a short walk to the entrance.

The city is very scenic and feels safe both day and night. The Lac du Annecy---which is maybe 15 minutes from the hotel--has some great walking paths and views of the Alps. Within the town there are some decent restaurants and wonderful architecture.

CUSTOMER SERVICE: No complaints. On our last day we needed to leave early in the morning and were told that most of the Annecy taxi services were busy and that getting a cab might be difficult. She called several cab companies on our behalf and got one for us.

ROOMS: I thought it was a good value. Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable. Our room faced the street, but since there are no cars it stayed quiet all night.

Annecy has something for everyone, and I'd love to go back someday.

We stayed at Room 203 which has a view of the canal.

The good - location, right off the canal in old town, modern bathroom, clean.

The bad - very small room, we had two large suitcases and had trouble fitting our suitcases in the room. No shower curtains in the bathroom. Very difficult to find your way to the hotel if you are driving. The hotel will send you a map without emphasizing that the road is blocked by a retractable obstacle. You need to talk through the intercom for them to lower the obstacle to let you in. It took us at least 1/2 hour circling around, we eventually gave up and parked in the public parking lot and dragged our luggages to the hotel.

Our compact but comfortable room on the 4th floor overlooked the lively street below (fairly noisy at night). The staff were very friendly, and spoke good English.The location could not be bettered - close to the canals and lake, with plenty of bars, restaurants and ice cream shops within a few minutes walk.
Breakfast a bit expensive, but plenty of cafes in the vicinity for coffee and a croissant. We would definitely stay here again on a return visit to Annecy - a beautiful town in a stunning setting.
