Me & my husband stayed in this hotel at the beginning of May for one night. We were invited to the wedding near Grenoble and needed a hotel for one night prior to that event.
OVERALL:
-it's ok for a short stay, if you're looking for a place to sleep & take a shower)
-very clean but very simple (no closet, no suitcase rack)
-unfunctional (broken safe, only one power outlet too far to use iron without doing gymnastics, the desk is the ironing board w/o fabric, dirty iron located at the front desk).
-the main entrance to the hotel looks like an emergency exit; first time you wonder whether it's the right door)
-wouldn't recommend for a longer, vacation stay. You can find something better.
LOCATION:
The hotel location is very convenient, behind the SNCF Gare (Railway Station) especially if you arrive by train.
GETTING TO THE HOTEL:
In order not to get confused which way to get to the hotel, you need to take the corridor under the railway tracks. If you arrive at the platform closest to the station, you will go directly in the hall of the station and follow the Novotel sign on the left, placed above the stairs leading to all other platforms. From any other platform take any exit stairs and continue till you see elevator at the end of the corridor. If you have a heavy luggage, take the elevator one flight up, if not you can walk upstairs. The hotel is located in the
Place R. Schuman on the left side but the entrance to the hotel from this side is closed. Follow the signs, walk around the building and enter hotel through the small entrance which looks more like an emergency exit than a main hotel door.
REGISTERING AT THE HOTEL:
The front desk staff was nice. Check-in & check-out were very fast. Hotel looks clean and new. It seemed to be empty, so it was very quiet all the time.
ROOM DESCRITPION:
Our room was very clean with a bathroom and a separate toilet room. It was very simple though. There was no closet, just 3 shelves and a few hangers in the corridor. Furniture was in a modern style, light was giving a cold feel to the whole room which I wasn't crazy about.
In the superior room (72 euro), there is:
-TV with BBC channel, :-)
-small sofa,
-bed,
-desk,
-minibar,
-kettle, 2 porcelane cups, instant coffee & tea bags,
-safe (WAS BROKEN).
In the bathroom, there is:
-a clean bathtub with a shower curtain (A 6'5" PERSON WILL BE FINE - CEILING HIGH ENOUGH)
-hair dryer (WORKS PRETTY GOOD )
Next day I asked for an iron as we were getting dressed up for the wedding and our clothes needed some touch up. The iron was dirty (someone definitely used it before and burned something black) and I had a real problem with getting everything ready without staining it. The desk in the room is also the actual ironing board (THAT'S THE "MODERN" PART OF THE FURNITURE) without any fabric so go figure how to make your ironing! I had to take sheets out of the bed and use it for that purpose. Then it turned out the only power outlet was in the corner of the room for the TV purpose, when I plugged the iron, the cord was too short to iron the shirt. It was very irritating, especially when you need things done in a short time. VERY UNFUNCTIONAL!!!
The products in the bathroom were only for one person, although I booked a room for 2.
The room was non smoking and in fact it was NON SMOKING - no cigarette smell. :-)
I enclosed pictures of the bathroom, toilet toom and view from the window. Room was located on 6th or 7th floor by the elevator.
