Lobby was under construction when I arrived, nevertheless, the room that I stayed the night made up for it. This hotel has a restaurant on the top floor overlooking one-third of Lyon; the view is breathtaking. Unfortunately, it was gloomy that Sunday morning. But, consider having dinner there… I bet it will be fantastic. What I love about Sofitel is their heavenly bed. I had the privilege of enjoying this mattress and refused to get up in the morning. Their Concierge service is great and the Hermes shower gels and shampoos smell delightful. Located near the Rhone river, this is a good hotel for business and pleasure as it is close to cafes and places where the locals go to. However, if you are interested in exploring the old town, then this hotel is not for you. The old town itself is located near the Saone river and it is on the other side of the town. Other than that, this hotel is just superb, and their rooms are big enough that they have a small walking closet.

“Excellent Hotel, Great Staff, Great Location”

We were thoroughly impressed by, and pampered in, this hotel which is located on the River in a nice section of Lyon called Bellecour. The rooms were beautifully appointed, and at 210 euros, the Superior Room was good value by European standards (and especially compared to Paris). Additionally, the staff was outstanding. Sebastian at the front desk helped to organize our room location, and he was always available to help us. And John the concierge had excellent suggestions for restaurants and activities in the area. As with other Sofitel hotels, the restaurants inside the hotel are pricier than those in the neighborhood (full breakfast buffet is 26 euros), but the 8th floor bar is worth the price of the drink with its view of the river and much of the city.

3 nights stay, very comfortable, superb feather beds and excellent sound insulation. Central location within a walk away from restaurants and shopping. DIdn't try breakfast at 26 euros which I find hard to swallow. 26E for a coffee and a croissant.!The staff were very pleasant and prompt service when we had a problem with the in room safe.
Strange design of bathroom doors which don't shut but remain with a gap.

“Great for the business traveler”

This hotel is located in the heart of Lyon and is very difficult to find. The streets are all one way and if you miss the hotel, you must circle around the block through traffic that is busy at all hours of the daytime. Avoiding pedestrians and taxi’s that drive somewhat chaotically is a challenge. Once you arrive, the hotel is like any other big name hotel. It seems more suited to the business traveler rather than the leisure traveler. The rooms are all the same, clean and stocked with standard hotel furniture. The breakfast was large and filling but service was very poor. If you must stay in Lyon, this would do but there might be more charming places to stay.
