It was a last minute decision to stay in this hotel, for that it was ok but for a romantic get away you should chose something differnet... The staff is very friendly, they do their best, but the hotel in general would need a little make over (e.g. the hair dryers are from the stone age and in general a little paint and modernization wouldn't hurt :-)). The breakfast is a good continental breakfast, although I am not sure it's worth 12 Euros. Another thing to keep in mind is the location, it is not in Lyon's best district, we didn't feel really comfortable walking around in the evening. But overall ok for the price!

The Kyriad Prestige was the cheapest centrally located 3 star hotel I found available anywhere on the Internet, so I guess I got what I paid for.

From outside, the property looks very modern and stylish, but rooms are disappointingly bland, dated and tired. Mine was at the back of the building, depressingly dark, featuring some rather nondescript pieces of furniture, and a scruffy carpet. At least there were all the amenities expected from a 3 star hotel including air con, safe, mini bar, tea & coffee making facilities, and a hair dryer in the bathroom. The buffet breakfast was actually pretty decent, with quite a lot to choose from, including a selection of pastries, scrambled eggs, French bread, and hot chocolate, tea or coffee.

The hotel is on a quiet if somewhat shabby alley just off Cours Gambetta. The area seems safe despite the presence of young males hanging around for no apparent reason, especially after dark. Female travellers may feel slightly uncomfortable. The river is virtually around the corner, and the city centre just across the river. The Old Town is a straightforward 20 minute walk via Place Bellecour, while Lyon Part-Dieu train station is only two stops from Saxe-Gambetta Metro station, perfect for a day trip to Avignon (1hr 10min by TGV, or 2hr 20min by TER, highly recommendable).

The street the hotel is on doesn't fill your heart with joy. It looks like an alleyway and has the local youths hanging around at the end of the street which was a little off-putting.
The hotel itself is clean and reasonable. The room we were given was cramped when they put the additional bed in it to the point of making it uncomfortable. The bathroom was also small.
The breakfast was good with a range of hot and cold choices.
Once you escaped the immediate vicinity the hotel proved to be in close proximity to the metro train line and within a reasonable walk across the bridge to the main shopping district of Lyon.
The pizza shop at the end of the alley made great pizzas!

We visited this hotel en-route to the south of france, although difficult to find within the one-way system of outer lyon, it was certainly worth the wait. The rooms were clean and bright, beds very comfortable, well equipped with TV, hairdryer and complimentary tea/coffee tray, good ensuite facilities, and helpful reception staff, breakfast was payable extra at 11 euros, which we didn't stay for as we had to make an early start the next morning. Well located for strolling to the local shops and squares in the evening to enjoy the french atmosphere of street bars/cafes. Parking was offered in a secure underground car park for a nominal fee, but height restrictions meant that we had to park our vehicle ( 4 X 4 ) on the surrounding streets, which was free upto 7am, but meant an early start for those planning a relaxing break. Would certainly visit again.
