To be honest I was a little disappointed with the Mercure Lyon Wilson. The location was fine, just over the river to the old town (about a 15 minute walk). The room however was very dated and was in need of renovation (which seems to be in progress according to other reviewers). We had a suite on the first floor for the 3 of us. The room was large but the decor and furniture was not great. Whilst it was clean enough, there were old stains on the couches and dirty marks on the wall. For the price of the room this was not expected (we paid about 150 per night which is far from cheap). I have stayed in Mercures before on many occasions (in various countries) at a fraction of the cost and have had way better rooms than this. Hopefully the renovations will improve the quality of the rooms.

just on teh south side of the river this is a small quiet business hotel.
They are renovating the place so there are some building works continuing but the room we had 402 was completely new.
You could still smell the new paint. It has a small underground car park which is lift operated.
its a 10 minute walk over the bridge to the shopping centre.
nice hotel location is good but i think if i went back i woudl want to stay in a hotel on the hill or in the town centre. this hotel is perfectly fine but on the south side of the river there doesn;t seem to be many places to go in the evening
Good location. Convenient for a stroll to both the old town and for Gare Part Dieu for the TGV heading south.
No trouble with check-in. Reasonably efficient and pleasant.
Room good. Fairly large with decor in good condition. Likewise the bathroom.
Secure underground parking (we didn't reserve it and had no trouble getting a spot arriving on a Saturday afternoon).
Breakfast, just fine. Nothing thrilling but nothing to grumble about.
Would have liked to have had longer than the one night we stayed at it seemed a very good base for a lovely city.
Booked through the hotel's own website. Very good value for money.

I stayed for two nights on a business trip last week. The renovations mentioned in a previous review appear to have been completed as I was given a room on the fourth floor which the receptionist informed me had been refurbished less than 3 weeks ago. She was right you could still smell the new paint.
The room was a standard room but had everything you need and you could just about see the river out of the window. It was clean and everything worked fine. What can go wrong in three weeks!
The breakfast was continental buffet style and was OK. The hotel doesn’t have a bar or evening restaurant. This didn’t cause a problem as there are plenty of places in easy walking distance.
Overall a good hotel and I would happily stay here again if in Lyon on business or pleasure.
