This hotel is conveniently located next to Lyon's main Part Dieu Train station and is close to the Airport shuttle buses which run from 5am. We booked this hotel because we were arriving into Part Dieu towards the end of our holiday and wanted to be close to the train station and to the bus stop. I, like another reviewer, would only recommend this hotel for these types of short visits and perhaps also for short business trips. The hotel is comfortable, but is well worn and is essentially like any other chain hotel.
The plus sides: the hotel has a lift (which in our experience is quite rare in french hotels!), air conditioning (ours didn't work very well tho), a great bathroom with a proper shower (again rare in the 2 star hotels we stayed in) and a good hairdryer, and tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel is also served by a great restaurant where you can get a nice buffet or a set menu for just 8 euros. The staff in both the hotel and restaurant are hard working and very helpful.
The downsides: our hotel room wasn't very clean and smelt badly of what my girlfriend described as 'wet dog'. I agree with another reviewer, the carpets should be replaced and the room wasn't as clean as it could be. I would also urge travellers to be cautious when walking to and from the hotel and train station late at night and early in the morning as there tends to be quite a few of the more shady Lyon inhabitants staggering about at these times. Just take care as you would around train stations here in the UK and probably the world over. In short, you could do worse, but there's probably better!
