This review is for the larger room at the top of the hotel, the Bouillotte.
When I made the reservation, I specified that we would have an infant with us and need a crib. A crib was kindly provided, but what was not included was mention that the Bouillotte was on the sixth floor...and that the elevator only goes to the fifth floor. Thus, several times a day we had to schlep our baby + baby stuff + stroller up two flights of stairs. In addition, the elevator itself is quite small (by American standards), and one of us plus the stroller was really all that would fit, so we either had to go up/downstairs in two shifts, or hoof it. While we came to France gladly prepared to do a lot of walking, the hotel staircase was not an especially pleasing place to be expending that energy.
The service at the hotel was adequate, as was the breakfast - although charging 9 euros per person seems like a bit too much, based on the quality of the buffet. The mediocrity of the breakfast pastries was an unwelcome surprise, given that we were in the country that invented the croissant. Similarly, the quality of products in the bathroom encouraged us to go out and purchase our own.
The ambiance is alright, but you're not staying here to enjoy the decor; it's all about the location, which is really what makes it - the hotel is right in the heart of one of the nicest neighborhoods in the city. You can walk to anywhere you want in Lyon proper from here.
If you're looking for a relatively inexpensive hotel in a good location, and you don't have kids, I think Celestins is fine. And if you want your quads to get an extra workout, book the Bouillotte. Bring toilettrees and plans to breakfast elsewhere.

We are to change it on our internet site. Families usually like it because it is a larger space and there are only a few steps.
kids are welcomes at the Celestins and that is why we provide free cribs, cots, microveoven acess. Lodging in the parents room is at no chagres. For your information three types of fresh breads is served daily as well as croissant, pain au chocolat and pralines cake; a local specialty. Thank you again. Emilie
