Lovely gem just a short walk from the HBF (main train station) and the city shopping district, BTW - Stuttgart has the best shopping in Germany!
The hotel has obviously been renovated with good quality furnishings. Staff at reception are very helpful, friendly and multi-lingual. There is a smallish bar just off reception or you can opt to sit out in an enclosed garden setting if the weather is fine. Special Kudos to 'Mala' at the front desk, she made us feel welcome and like we were long-time guests even though this was our first visit to Kronen. I am sure all the staff would be just as accommodating as it's clear customer service receives a high priority at the Kronen.
Our room was nicely appointed, light wood furniture, comfortable bed. Our room was on the smallish side but at the end of the hallway and very quiet. We were only there for one night to close out the Stuttgarter Wein Fest so we didn't spend much time in the room. The room had a lighted corner minibar, TV, table/chairs and comfortable bedding PLUS AC. Bathroom was cute with colorful tiles, very very clean, wonderful toiletries and did I mention - SPOTLESS. Only drawback to the bathroom was the size - again, fine for one night.
Breakfast was included in our room rate. I went down at 0630 to get coffee and tea to take to the room, that was no problem - sometimes it is at other hotels. Not only did I get the coffee and tea, it was nicely served up on a tray for me to easily carry back to the room. Later in the morning, went down to breakfast and true to the other reviews I have read, it's fantastic. First you notice the lovely breakfast room, very large, there is an outdoor garden you can sit in if the weather is fine. Then you see the huge layout. Not only large, but attractive - fresh fruits cut up (did not appear to be frozen and certainly didn't taste like frozen), cereals, many types of breads, attractive small bites served up on curled spoons, hot and cold items, salmon, eggs, bacon, famous Schwabian potatoes in couple styles, cheeses, on and on - even desserts. Breakfast is served until 1100. Manager/Owner wanders in and out, very friendly and obviously concerned that her guests are enjoying their stay.
Internet was offered (surcharge), we didn't use it. There is an attached garage, 7 Euro a day. Very convenient and definitely worth the 7 Euro. There is a Wellness Oasis, we didn't go in, too interested in the Wine Fest.
If you are going to be in the downtown Stuttgart area, stay here.
