I knew that this hotel was not in the centre of town before I booked but did not realise how much further out it is. I suppose it was made worse by the roadworks nearby making it quite difficult by car but there is a train/underground stop nearby.
People who are moaning about the parking price must realise that this is the price you pay in Europe and for the security of an underground car park the price was quite typical.
We checked in early evening a week or so ago and were given a room on the 2nd floor facing the entrance to the car park. What we didn't realise until about half an hour after getting into the room was that the blinds are on the outside of the building and are electrically operated in a cool way from a switch beside the bed. We had much fun and hilarity opening and closing them and heard others doing so too.
The room was modern and was kept clean. A specifically clever touch that I have never encountered anywhere else is a speaker connected to the television in the bathroom so if say the news is on in the room and you are in the shower or cleaning your teeth you can hear it through the speaker in the bathroom.
Both the room and bathroom were spotlessly clean, and the attention to detail of the housekeeping staff is very good. A pen broke in the room and they noticed and replaced it the following day, complimentary water was a nice touch too.
The computers in the lobby offer 45 minutes of free internet access which was good. The guy on reception was also friendly.
The restaurant however is where the hotel is let down, dinner took forever despite there being only around 3 or 4 others in the restaurant - and when it did come out it was of small size and wasn't really anything to get excited about. The portions were also very small for the relatively high price. Breakfast, which although good (and was included with our room rate) was very busy the first morning and had to wait 15 minutes (more seating would be a better idea). The choice was good, though.
Overall, the location and restaurant are really where the hotel lets it self down as this would be a five star review otherwise. The rooms are also on the small side. Oh, and the other thing - it was the only hotel on our Europe trip (this including ones many cheaper) that did not offer tea and coffee facilities in the room.
I would however recommend this hotel - it is out of the centre of Munich but the beds are comfortable (albeit a bit squeaky) and the rooms are clean and tastefully furnished. If in Munich I would stay again.
