This was a great hotel.
The hotel staff were excellent, all were very helpful and any staff member we saw greeted us with a “hello” We didn't have reservations and ended up just walking in and asking if they had availability. We ended up deciding on the theme room, the Alpsee, which was gorgeous, very spacious with a table and settee. The washroom was more then expected, renovated and very clean.
The design and decoration of the whole hotel was very unique and gave it its own individual charm. The breakfast room was beautiful and while not having a very large selection of foods it had the basic fruits, yogurts and cereals so it suited me fine. The location of the hotel was also excellent. Only a 5min walk from the train and bus station, where you get the bus to Ludwig’s castles, which is only a 10min drive away.
We were planning on staying two days, one for the castles and another to explore the romantic road a bit however we discovered Fussen to be a bit too small for us, without much to do. We didn’t have a car and had to rely on public transportation, due to that we really couldn’t get anywhere, so we ended up leaving a day early to head to Vienna. If we did it again we probably would have stayed in a Munich hotel near the train station and day tripped it to the castles.
That being said, if you have a car or really enjoy small quaint towns then I would recommend staying in Fussen. For all of it’s charm and beautiful views.
