Karin is wonderful. She makes you feel at home, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The 5 minute walk to the old city is well worth it. We stayed outside the walls to save a little $ and I don't think we missed anything. Breakfast was great and she is fun to visit with. Great value for the money.

In June 2007 friends of ours and my husband and I stayed with Karin and Hans Weiss of Haus-Karin (there are two Wiess B&Bs in Rothenburg). This woman is amazing. First of all, for any who are fearful of not understanding or being understood, when attempting to speak in German, no need! She speaks flawless English. Her husband speaks only German, but is a sweetheart and very friendly. Secondly, she can run rings around most travelers. Her energy is unbounding and she is just so helpful with everything. She grabbed my suitcase before I even realized it, and it was the heaviest of the four (one suitcase each...we all had carryon size, but each was crammed to its limit) She literally tore up the stairs, bag in hand. I was grateful, since I have problems negotiating stairs, but she didn't know this when she took off with the suitcase to show us our rooms. The rooms were spacious and spotless, but for tall folks, it's a bit of a problem until one gets used to the slant of the roof that was over each of our beds inside the room. One's head can come in contact with the inside of the eaves quite easily. Perhaps to ease the wounded noggin, Fr. Weiss provides local beer, coffee and tea at all times to her guests, gratis!! More likely, she does this just because she's that kind of lady. A very nice touch!! Her breakfasts are to die for, not at all the usual Continental breakfast of rolls and and jam with coffee or tea. They include so much and each day is a little different. Plus she makes the best homemade jam you can imagine, right ffrom the fruit in her own garden. She and her husband divide up the work...he has the whole outside, she does the inside and each takes the job quite seriously. Inside and outside are lovely. Karin has tour books in a number of languages, which she loans to her guests to help them with the "what to do in the area" questions. Plus she can give great directions to wherever you wish to go. Since we'd rented a car, we didn't have to take advantage of her wonderful service of picking up and dropping off at the train station, but while we were there, she took off to gather up a couple of different guests at the station. She suggested a wine stube/pub in town for dinner, which proved to be splendid, and a locals hangout, not touristy at all, tucked away in a corner of the town. All four of us enjoyed our whole stay and we will be staying with the Weisses again when we plan to go back in two years. At that time, we will stay about two weeks, as we want to really explore the area. Just be sure to reserve early, since her B&B is very popular!

After reading reviews on different hotels and B & B's in the Rothenburg area, it seemed as though Karin's place continued to receive high recommendations and believe me, the recommendations are well deserved. The place was immaculately spotless. The breakfast was very well prepared, presented wonderfully and sooo delicious. Karin picked my husband and me up at the train station and after settling into our room, she gave information regarding things to see and do as well as a map of the medevial city. A 5 minute walk from her house was so quaint and lovely and then we were within the city walls. The following day, we were taken back to the train station and the convenience of the transportation to and from was very nice. Being able to stay in our German hosts home will long be remembered with fond memories. A big thank you goes out to Karin and her husband, Hans.

We stayed with Karin for 2 nights in September, and enjoyed our stay. We drove to Rothenburg, but couldn't find her place. We stopped at a shop, and the owner called her. She drove to where we were, and we followed her home. We had a room on the second floor with a table and chairs, and a nice sitting area with a sofa and 2 chairs-very charming! She is literally a 5 minute walk to the town, and recommended a restaurant there that turned out to be the best meal we had while in Germany.

Breakfast was delicious, with quite a varitey of meats, cheeses, rolls, yogurt, and a poached egg one morning. Her homemade jam was delicious.

Karin is fun to talk to and very opinionated. Our only negative comment has to do with her reaction when she asked us where we were headed next, and we replied "Dachau Concentration Camp". She didn't just share her opinion(which would've been fine), but became irritated and scolded us for wanting to visit there. So our advice? Have a great stay at Karin's-which we did-just don't mention you're going to Dachau!

We booked 2 rooms via Karin's website after reading positive reviews here and on [--]. Karin gave us clear directions as we came by car. She met us in the front of her lovely home and gave us 2 of the 3 rooms on the second floor. She also has 2 rooms below. She and her husband are retired, raised 5 children, and now rent out the extra rooms. She is very efficient, has a great sense of humor, and works very hard at keeping everything spic and span. There are 2 full bathrooms upstairs. I had a sink in my room, but used either bathroom in the hall for shower and toilet. It was never a problem, but for anyone wanting an en-suite, this may be. My friends' room had their bathroom (that was available for me as well) just outside their door, with a little more privacy, down a short hallway. The rooms are very nicely decorated, with a sitting area and lots of storage. The breakfast was great! Lots of cheeses, spreads, yogurt, rolls, meats, cakes, etc. to enjoy. She used very nice dishes. She even gave my friend a cute ceramic item on her birthday. Other guests were fun to talk to. Only a short walk to the walled city of Rothenburg, which was nice to get away from the crowds. Price of 23 euro per person is a bargain for what you get.
