As fellow travelers pointed out the location is an asset. When you are outside the hotel, you can see the castle on the other side of the river. Even at night when it is illuminated. How nice.
But we shouldn't forget that people come here to stay at the hotel -- not to look out of the window or stand in front of the hotel.
Mid-week, I paid roughly 100 Euros/130 USD for a tiny room incl. breakfast. That is not extremely expensive, but it's no good deal either.
In many respects, staying at Walfisch means time travel to the dark days of the German hotel industry of the 1980s (and before). It's like they said to themselves: as of tomorrow we only offer non-smoking rooms but what's the point in changing the carpet? Good thing: you cannot slip in the shower (which is the bathtub) because the surface of the bathtub is as rough as a nail file (which, in turn, is missing).
I mainly stayed here because nearby Hotel Rebstock was booked due to a conference. Well: I survived, but no more night like this, please.
