I was very wary of this hotel after reading some of the reviews but it turned out ok. The hotel is very close the the Messe (trade centre) so i suppose they can charge high rates, but for a budget hotel it was very expensive. On checking-in my reservation could not be found and only after showing them my invoice (I had paid 21 days in advance of my stay) did they manage to locate my booking, while waiting for this another couple (think china/korean) were also told that they didnt have a booking as their credit card had bounced - obviously the hotel hadnt contacted the people when this had happened. I overheard the following day another 2 guests being told that they didnt have a booking, cc problems again - so I would phone prior to going to check that you are expected1
My room was on the 3rd floor, along at the bottom of a corridor, on coming out of the lift (only 1 working out of 2), the corridor lights come on via sensors - my room was basic, 2 single beds pushed together with 2 duverts, no top sheets and only 1 soft pillow per bed, i did have a sofa bed which looked as if it pulled out and took 2 but there is no way 4 people could have stayed in the room, no tea/coffee facilitis, small bathroom and it lacked storage for make-up toiletries but did supply a hairdryer. Spot light above mirror/hardryer wasnt working
I ventured to the bar for something to eat and was told that it was a "carry-in" service and was given a menu but being on my own didnt want that so opted for a sandwich which was already in the chilled display and a drink - getting a receipt is a hassle as everything has to be input and sent to a printer at the back.
Wifi is free in the bar and there are 2 terminals but these appear to be chargeable
Breakfast was extra - at 7.50 euro it was ok, nothing to rave about, cold hams, cheeses, bread and some cereals.
I did use the carry-in service the second night as I have colleagues with me, the staff were very helpful phoning the order and chasing it when it didnt appear, there is a seperate area where you can eat within the bar area. It really is a kind of Youth hotel very trendy and basic in some areas, but as the staff every very helpful, room and bed were clean I cant make any negative comments,
The hotel is a "green" hotel with window blinds which come dowin/up and tilt authomatically so i did find it strange that I was sitting in my room looking out the window and suddenly the blind closed on me and I couldnt change it.
I dont think I would stay there again as I think for the cost I could have got something better.
