My husband and I and another couple stayed one night at the Elefant. I found their website on the internet and decided to book 2 rooms there as my research did not turn up any bad reviews. You can tell from their website they are very proud of the Elefant’s history. After maneuvering the entrance with our SUV (a very small opening into a small parking area), we went to the reception desk. The lady at the desk spoke very little English but we managed to get registered without any difficulty. Our room was very small but the bathroom was a nice size with a large walk-in shower. The hotel is not air conditioned and the windows only opened a couple of inches – a fan would have been nice to circulate the air but since we didn’t have the evening sun we were comfortable. Our room overlooked the small patio/courtyard. This is a real plus. You can order food and drinks on the patio and converse with the other guests. Really a nice area! Besides the patio, there is also a nice bar and restaurant. After talking with the waiter we decided to eat there and the Chef was summoned to translate the menu into English for us. What a nice young man he was. We were pleased with the food and the service. After dinner we enjoyed coffee on the patio. Breakfast was served in a huge ballroom. It was a typical hotel breakfast buffet. This is not a luxurious hotel but a small quaint hotel. We were there on a Tuesday night and it wasn’t full but the waiter told us it is sold out every weekend. I would have rated the hotel higher but the rooms are very small.
