I normally don't write bad reviews unless I found the hotel absolutely terrible. And believe me, If I could give this hotel no stars I would.
So I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights last week as my boyfriend was visiting and we couldn't stay at mine and this hotel was near to my place of work so therefore very convenient.
We arrived on the sunday, it looked okay ... bit in the middle of nowhere and was above a Lidl which was a bit odd but you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover as they say. The room was okay - not really like the photos but it was spacious and had a kitchen which was good. The 'high-tec' shower didn't really work and would either be freezing or burning hot but that's my only complaint about the room itself.
The location is good for the daytime ... but at night the trains don't go there after 00.30 which meant paying 35 euros for a taxi from Essen Hbf and on another night 52 euros for an ICE from Bonn (or waiting for the first train at about 4.30am).
Now for the major complaint ... 3 days after leaving the hotel I received an email to state that the housekeeping staff had found "irremovable stains" on the TV and bedside table and that they were charging me 120 euros for these damages. The funny thing being that, during our stay we put a glass of water on the bedside tables and we didn't even use the TV table. I phoned and spoke to a rude member of staff who stated that we had definitely done it. I am still waiting to hear back after telling them that I have no intention of paying for these so-called damages unless they can provide evidence. So please be careful or you may end up being charged half the price of the room for "damages"!!
