The Mercure Saabrucken Sud is on the A6 Autobahn, on the German/French border, exit Autohof. We stayed for 2 nights on a bed and breakfast basis, check-In was very smooth and were in the room within minutes. The hotel has recently been refurbished to a high standard. There is an outside pool which is normally open from May-September.

The room was of reasonable size, clean and stylishly decorated. All the frills with In Room Safe, Work Desk, Minibar, TV with over 30 channels. The bathroom was well equipped with powerful shower.

There was a door between the bedroom and the cloakroom/bathroom and shutting off any noise from the corridor - a very good idea.

Breakfast was a sumptuous affair, with hot selection, breads, pastries, wide selection of fruit/hams and cheese. Coffee or Tea comes separately to the table.

The hotel is slightly out of town but is a short drive into the centre of Saarbrucken, there is a bus stop on the main road with buses leaving on an hourly basis to Saarbrucken. The border with France is a short walk from the hotel, and there is a supermarket on the French side.

A very good hotel and an ideal base for exploring the area
