I stayed at the Moevenpick in Lubeck in mid-October 2006 - a "superior" room cost £75 per night. Overall, the hotel offered good value - the room was well furnished and had everything you'd need (clean, modern bathroom; satellite TV with widescreen; safe; tea and coffee facilities ... which are unusual in Germany). I guess the one thing missing was air conditioning.
The price of the breakfast buffet was not included in the room price - it worked out at 15 euros extra. This was quite pricey, and although there was a good overall selection, the usual cooked breakfast was a bit spartan compared to most hotels.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room was cleaned promptly. No problem keeping my bags or ordering a taxi to the airport (costs about 14 euros to Lubeck airport).
Good location, about 5 minutes walk from the Holstentor which is the main "gate" into town (nb. this looks like it'll be covered up for renovation for a few months, but the museum is open). There are plenty of places to eat in town.
A couple of good things to consider whilst you're there are the trip up the tower of St Peter's Church - it's 2.50 euros and there's a lift - great views of the whole town. Also try out the boat trips, they take you round the rivers and canals of the town.
