Booked into the Altstadt for Lubeck's Christmas market. It is a small, independent hotel and Its location is excellent, being just off the main street and within easy walking distance of the centre of the old town. Our room was large, warm and very quiet (it was at the back but the road seemed very quiet anyway). Reception staff etc. were charming and breakfast excellent - really nice fresh bread rolls, ham, cheese, eggs, smoked fish etc.
If you are going for the Christmas market you should book early as it is very popular with Scandinavians. The Raddisson was also in a good location if you want the "big chain hotel" experience and/or can get a good deal. The Christmas market is large for a smallish city and compares favourably with Leipzig's which we went to in the previous year.
