“Great hotel but beware the noise from Iceworld”

Radisson SAS Senator Hotel

This hotel has been very recently refurbished and is really very nice. The rooms are modern but comfortable - not so modern that you feel like you are staying in a design project!

The location is excellent, right on the river and no more than a 5 minute walk in to the centre of beautiful Lubeck.

Any hotel breakfast connisseurs will be very happy with the hotel's buffet breakfast. It is extensive!

Our only niggle was a temporary venue erected just to the left hand side of the hotel (as you look out over the river). It is part of the Ice World exhibit (well worth a visit by the way) and is a small collection of marquees and food stalls offering Christmas fayre. All very festive but sadly also very noisy until about 10.30pm each night. Not a major problem if you are not planning to spend any time in the room but certainly a problem if you want an afternoon snooze as even with the TV turned up you can still hear the thumping music!

All that said, the staff are very nice and as long as you are aware of this they'll probably find you a room on the other side of the hotel. It will be gone in mid-January anyway!!

“First choice in Lübeck”

Radisson SAS Senator Hotel

We booked the hotel as a last-minute offer. There was no risk involved as we know the SAS Senator from previous stays.
The hotel is being renovated. We stayed in of the older rooms. The carpet was clean but was in need of renewal. The furniture was in very good condition, the room itself was clean.
The staff was very polite and competent. Before arrival I contacted the hotel twice by e-mail because I had a question about the type of room we could book. I also asked for a twin-bed room and got one (it was not possible to book a twin or double bed room at the time of booking - the travel agency did not offer this choice).
We had dinner twice at the Kogge restaurant which offers excellent value for money and has a very friendly staff. The quality of the food was very, very good and reasonably priced.
Breakfast was o.k.
All in all a hotel that we will definetely book again in the future.

We are staying at the Radisson whenever we come to Luebeck and have no reason to even try another hotel. The staff is friendly with a genuine smile, efficient and smart. The hotel is very clean.

Brunch on Sunday made me gain a kilo or two, but it was worth it. Lovely kids corner with a computer, kept our little one engaged, so we could spoil ourself during the brunch.

The view over the river and the old town from the bedroom window is just marvellous. It is worth it to ask for a room with a view.

Our room was large, light, spotlessly clean, very comfortable and quiet. All the furnishing and fittings were in near perfect condition so we were very surprised to hear all the rooms are just about to be refurbished! We were in the non smoking rooms and that can make a big difference to the overal state of a room mind you. The bath was wonderfully deep and great to relax in and warm up as it was a bit nippy in Lubeck in April!

The receptionists were excellent - very friendly and welcoming allowing us to check in before 9am as rooms were available, and to have a late check out at 2.30pm. They were very helpful with maps of the city and answering all our questions cheerfully and in depth.

Breakfast was fresh and tasty with a good selection of bread, croissants, cheeses, tinned and fresh fruits, yoghut, hot items and pastries. The restaurant with its submarine theme was light, interestingly decorated and very pleasant to eat in. Breakfast was 15 Euros each.

The hotels location is excellent - a stones throw from all the main buildings and sites to see and some excellent restaurants to dine in.

We found Lubeck to be a gem of a place to visit - inside each building a surprise and in the case of the Rathaus, Hospital and churches a delight.

The tourist board suggested two restaurants to us both of which gave top class food and service for amazing good value compared to the UK. The Yatchzimmer (diagonally across the canal from the Radisson) was very good. The Roberto Rossi in the Schabbelhaus was superb - 5* food and service in an a setting akin to the upper class lifestyle of a Hanseatic merchant. We had the set menus each time - 3 courses for about 20-25 pounds each including wine. Heartily recommend both these establishments.

I would recommend the Radisson unreservedly as I would Lubeck as a city to visit for a short break. Lubeck is not that well known so go there before it is as in it's present state it is a joy to visit.

“The whole family loved this hotel”

Radisson SAS Senator Hotel

I stayed at the Radisson, Luebeck in July 2005 in a family room with my husband and 2 young children. We just loved this hotel! It is located on the banks of the Trave river just a stone's throw from the Holsteiner Gate (under scaffolding at the moment) and a short walk from the beautiful city of Luebeck. The family room was spacious, the children slept on a sofa bed in the main room, which also had a table and four chairs and the large comfortable double bed was through an arch adjoining this area. The bathroom was your typical hotel bathroom except it included a clothes line over the bath - very handy for drying swim suits and there were plenty of toiletries. The pool is small but perfect for splashing around in with kids and it is lovely and warm but not monitored by a lifeguard. The breakfast was excellent - you could have anything you wanted - there was a friendly chef on hand to cook omelettes, fry eggs, make waffles etc at your request. We also had an evening meal here which was delicious and I would highly recommend trying the restaurant. There is also a lovely cocktail bar. Overall, a super hotel I'd have no problem recommending.
