Hotel Stadt is in a good location for budget, no-fuss travellers, who want a low-cost break in Luebeck, near Hamburg, Germany. It's just across the street from the bus station, from which a bus takes you directly to from the airport (without fuss or need to change) at modest cost. The railway station is just around the corner, from which you can easily reach several other different interesting German towns.
The hotel itself is modest and plain, but perfectly acceptable. My bedroom (& shower Wc) was small but clean, comfortable and cosy, and the bed was comfortable. TV was not satellite, just local German, but that's minor and not important. I missed the in-room electric kettle tea/coffee-making facilities which we take for granted in British hotels; but I don't know if that's standard practice in German hotels, or not. There is one small lift, and the breakfast room is in a bright and pleasant little "basement" room with attractive painted windows. Unfortunately, (my only "minus" point) the breakfast was entirely a modest "cold buffet" - no hot/cooked options were offered; and this made the breakfasts a little bit boring. No evening food is offered: evening meals have to be taken outside.
Still the manager and his assistant spoke very good English, and were very helpful in giving me information about Luebeck and other towns to visit for day-trips. It's a very pleasant walk from the hotel towards the famous Holstentor and the Puppenbrucke over the River Trave, although several buses can take you into the Old Town on the island.
This isn't a fancy hotel which you "live" in during the day; but it's an adequate, respectable & convenient lodging-place to return to at night.
