Enjoyed this hotel for two nights over Christmas break; the family room was especially nice, with twin murphy type bunkbeds that EVERY hotel should have, especially because the beds take little space but are very comfortable. The hotel has apparently responded to critics and made pool access free, but the weight room as well as the saun /jacuzzi still have charges (the latter is a ridiculous 8 euros/person/day). Friendly staff, clean hotel.

This hotel is in a nice location, but still beneath the flight path of the nearby airport. The rooms are clean but the staff are unfriendly. The pool outside is nice but I'd reckon its way too small when the hotel is full with 400+ guests, there was less than 20 rooms full when we were there in October. The gym is also quite small too. The restaurant has no atmosphere whatsoever,neither do the staff know how to give it any ( dim the lights you clowns ! ).
Another problem I had was ordering pizza from their in-room menu by a local delivery company. The receptionist refused to take my order by phone and instead insisted I come down 7 levels to do it in person. I dont know why this is ( maybe they had messed up orders before ?) but what I do know is that 4 Star means the guest should not have to leave their room for such a simple request. I vented my frustration over the matter but to no avail. I found this to be a completely unsatisfactory performance by a hotel claiming to be 4 Star, these are the simple little things you are paying a premium for over a 3 Star hotel.
Also be wary of ordering room service. The menu shows what look like reasonable prices but the small print at the bottom says that 35% will be added on to the bill.A con in anyone's eyes, why not just give the full price for both room service and restaurant ser vice ?
Finally getting a taxi from the hotels rank left a sour taste in the mouth. They work off commission with the hotel ( our driver went inside to get let reception know he was taking us ).The result was a demand for 15 euro at the airport, barely a 3 km drive away. He had a meter and didnt use it and when I asked him why he blandly replied that 15 euro was the price to the airport . Another rip-off, 3kms for a taxi in Dublin costs me 8 euro and Dublin is one of the worlds most expensive capitals, Malaga on the Costa Del Sol is not.
Overall I would say the Guadalmar is a nice hotel but seems to have a certain contempt for its customers. Dont come here expecting a friendly atmosphere or high levels of service, the manager has yet to send the staff for training. Do come here if the only time you deal with the staff is to check in and out. Its not the worst hotel in the world though I suspect you'll find much better for the same price along the Costa del Sol.

We booked through RCI as a timeshare swap. Very nice hotel: though I can see the dismay of some for its distance from shopping/sightseeing (even tho there's a bus stop in front). We luckily had a car, so that was not a problem. Anyway, the stay was delightful, great view, and on two occasions we had to leave early, before the restaurant opened, so on both occasions we went into the (closed) restaurant early and they had a very nice breakfast set out for us: no eggs or bacon, but rolls, yogurt, coffee, juice. People were very helpful. Room was clean and quiet, (would have liked carpeting rather than faux marble floors - cold on the feet at 2 A.M.) but other than that, a great stay.

I needed a hotel near the Malaga airport for one night. Tryp was great. Location perfect, 5kms from airport, nice pool, 50 feet away from the beach . Nice food and great staff. Rooms were perfect with seaviews from all rooms. I would have stayed more than one day becaue of the location. And air traffic does not really affect the hotel.
