Just back from a stay at the Silken Malaga and found the hotel to be good value for money, but there were both positives and negatives.
The room rate, food and bar prices were all very reasonable. The rooms were clean and large, with comfortable beds and a good selection of amenties. Breakfast in the hotel was also very good and well worth the money. The spa was a nice extra, although a pool would have been a bonus. The location of the hotel was great, right beside the train/bus station and with a supermarket directly opposite the entrance.
However, the girl that we dealt with on the front desk a few times was pretty incompetent (her advice on the best way to get to Marbella ended up costing double of what she indicated) and on trying to contact the hotel prior to our stay to book dinner they didn't respond to emails and on phoning them I couldn't get anyone that spoke English.
The aircon in the rooms wasn't powerful enough to cool the room - I dread to think what the room temperature would be like in the height of summer. Also, the fridge in our room didn't work.
