I hate to give a bad review, but this restaurant, and its owner, deserve it.
(+) The restaurant is set in a beautiful area of old Marbella. Our "Bierzo" region Madai Godello wine was excellent. The olive oil also.
(-) Unfortunately everything that originated in the kitchen was quite the opposite. We ordered the "menu de degustación" - the "tasting menu." Each dish, one after another was completely insipid, no taste whatsoever. An example being the prawns with a bottled mayonnaise which we were told could be eaten (minus the heads,) with their shells on. No they can't. A very over-cooked rice with vegetables was served with a spoon and fork. Impossible to eat. When, before half way through, we questioned whether the usual chef was in the kitchen, the proprietor informed us that everything was being served "como siempre," (as always,) and we were wrong to complain. At this point, we offered to pay for the wine and one person's meal and he refused insisting that the whole meal be paid for. We (probably incorrectly,) paid the whole bill, 220 Euros, and asked for the "Libro de Reclamación" (a Spanish reclaim sheet.) We filled out the form and will be presenting it to the Marbella Ayuntamiento (Town Hall,) in the morning.
Having eaten during the last week at two astounding Michelin starred restaurants, (Zaranda in Mallorca and Aponiente in Puerto Santa Maria, Cadiz,) we are amazed to find an establishment so grossly overrated. The star should most certainly be removed for next year. Sorry.
