The El Fuerte is the best hotel in Marbella. A perfect location, fantastic beach club with the best paella! The refurb has brought it back to its best.

Hotel
All members of the hotel staff were helpful, friendly and went out of their way to answer my questions or queries. The hotel was very clean and the common areas well maintained.
The hotel is very well positioned, right on the beach and 5 minutes from the old town.
Breakfast
Breakfast was a huge selection from the full cold buffet, which included juice, cereals, breads, cheeses and a full selection of cooked items, including freshly cooked omelettes or eggs.
Dinner
We ate out every night and walked back to the hotel.
Rooms
Our room had twin beds pushed together with quality duvets and a selection of pillows. The room and the bathroom were very clean. Good shampoos, soaps etc. were ever present. Our room only had a side view and was a little small but a sea view is available at an extra cost.
Pool areas
Again both the external and internal pools were clean. While we stayed, lots of sun beds were available and towels were provided at no extra cost.
In short, in our opinion one of the better hotels on the Costa del Sol, we had a great time at the hotel
Car Park
The hotel does have a car park, which was free.

Stayed here for a 4 night break following reviews on here and was not dissapointed.
The hotel is a bit old fashioned but the location makes up for this. 2 mins walk from the shops and restaurants of the old town and right on the beach promenade.
Would recommend booking a sea view room as these have balconies even the side sea view. The standard rooms do not
Air con was not over effective fine in april but could be an issue in mid summer

If you want to have a Spanish experience this is not the hotel for you. This hotel caters to English and German tourist for the most part, and has no Spanish flare. Breakfast was very bad English food. Baked beans and over cooked ham. Our room was small and the view was of a rundown apt building "Mediterriano" My wife and I upgraded to a full sea view room for 65 euros a night more. This second room wasnt much bigger but had a beautiful sea view. Overall the staff are ok, however some are down right rude. The hotel has a valet car service only when it feels like it. We were often waiting 20 minutes plus to have our car parked. One time the valet guy told me to park it myself. This is a good hotel if you don't plan on spending much time in it. It was a nice launch off point for day trips to Sevilla and Granada. Its also a good hotel if your idea of Spanard is "Miguel" from "Fawlty towers." The staff will do the up most to perpetuate the stereotype of the bumbling Spanish servant to a mostly ignorant British clientele.
We stayed here on our way round Andalucia and loved it! From the minute we arrived and our hire car was parked for us to when we left, the staff and the hotel were brilliant. We didn't have a sea view room but were on the side of the hotel which was fine. The room was spacious, with very comfy beds, pillows and duvets - we could have slept all day! The outdoor pool was a little on the small side but there are plenty of loungers and the sea and beach are about 10 seconds from the hotel. There is an indoor heated pool as well. There are loads of bars and restaurant areas within the hotel and the breackfast was great - a mixture of traditional continental and "English" breakfast - bacons, sausage etc with eggs cooked to order.
The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the old town which was very picturesque with plenty of bars and restaurants and lovely narrow winding roads. The hotel has a beach barbeque, grill and drinks area which is open til about 6.30 p.m which was lovely also.
All in all a fabulous hotel and well worth the 4 stars. I would stay here again without hesitation.
