“Brilliant rooms”

Gran Hotel Guadalpin Marbella & Spa

15 Mar 2008

We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite which was very nice, kitchen included and the bathrooms were lovely. I particularly liked the large terrace which had both dining table and louge type chairs and table. Breakfast were really nice with a huge choice.
We spent an afternoon in the Spa which again was very pleasant but quite expensive to enter if you are paying. The swimming pool was freezing and I was disappointed that it was not heated and they didn't have an indoor pool.
I have to agree with others, the staff are not very welcoming and don't smile at all.
Overall though a lovely hotel.

“Swimming Pool”

We stayed at this hotel at the end of Febraury, we had been the same time the year before and loved everything about it. However this year we discovered that the pool is closed until June, all that is there is a very ugly green screen around it, the smell of turps and much noise as it is worked on. If you are going here to relax don't find somewhere else. The staff were not at all apologetic about the pool they said it was on their web site (not when we booked) and only offered us a deduction on the spa pool.

The amenities of this hotel are brilliant. The room was large, classy, with a good bathroom and a mini kitchen. The restaurant at the hotel served michelin star quality food on the night I dined. The negatives were all routine service related. First, we got the room overlooking the BP petrol station - ok I guess given the price we paid - but watch out, since this seems to be the "expedia room". Second, breakfast was included, but the hotel at times forgot that, and indeed, were argumentative and rude as to their forgetting, with staff explaining how it was not "so and so's fault, but someone's elses or a computer problem or whatever" - I don't care, just fix it and don't argue. Third, paying for parking of 15 euro a day is not consistent with a 5 star hotel. But you could park outside for free - good luck in summer though. Overall, this is a 5 star hotel because its premises genuinely are of 5 star standard, but not (at the moment) its service. I would recommend it.

“Hot Tub Galore!”

Gran Hotel Guadalpin Marbella & Spa

I have stayed at Guadalpin on 2 occasions now firstly in a Presidential Suite with the deck the size of a tennis court then secondly a penthouse suite which has a staircase up to the roof top with an outdoor hot tub! Heaven!

The hotel is modern with a friendly feel.

Rooms - all mod cons and my only gripe is the beds are too hard.

Pool - very nice but beds can be difficult to get, it also has an pool bar built into the side under a waterfall.

Overall a great hotel and I think all the rooms offer kitchen facilities which is great.

I would definately revisit.

“This is a good hotel”

Gran Hotel Guadalpin Marbella & Spa

22 Nov 2007

I have just returned from a week in the Guadalpin, Marbella. It was very enjoyable but it was late in the year and the hotel's own beach was closed. However a shuttle was available (taxis aren't expensive) to take us to the beach at the sister hotel, Guadalpin, Puerto Banus. Just a comment on whether or not this hotel deserves it's 5 star status. It depends where you are coming from. It would not be 5 star in northern Europe but hotels on the Mediterranean tend to enjoy a more liberal rating system. The Guadalpin is in Spain so it deserves its star rating. A very good hotel
