This hotel has a great location with only a service road between it and the beach. We had a junior suite with bedroom and separate sitting room and a very large balcony overlooking the sea. The weather was cold 10 - 12 degrees C and very windy the whole week and almost no sun. The staff at the hotel were excellent and very friendly except for the bar staff who for some unaccountable reason were not. The food (compulsory half board) was very good indeed and the wine very reasonably priced if a rather restricted choice. The outdoor pool and sunbathing area was very small for the size of the hotel and would have been inadequate if the hotel had been full (only about 25% when we were there) but there is a very good beach with literally miles of sand and thousands of sunbeds just over the road. With the cold weather we didn't need the pool but we did need the heating in the room and it became clear that the system was just not up to the job. We were offered a change of room but it was no better. Public rooms were OK but not the bedrooms. This would be a great hotel with good heating and a better pool and / or an indoor pool. The indoor pool is a therapy pool not really for swimming and expensive to use.

“Wonderful Hotel in great location”

I booked this hotel after checking all the traveler feedback on the web and it sounded great.

Sure enough it was all we wanted - quiet - no yobos yelling all night and tossing beer cans: a gorgeous balcony view of the sea: clean, large room, the best location for the beach in the whole place! Champagne for breakfast, Foie gras most every meal, good variety of soups at dinner, peel and eat sweet, fresh shrimp every evening....not bad. For the husband, the best European TV experience with a 24 hr English movie channel, not just Sports, CNN and topless German women selling things.

Great location for walking the promenade to our favorite beach around the corner : Fisherman's Beach or La Carihuela.
Hotel was a super price last Oct - half board including airfare from Toronto for $1100 for a week.
Ok, it was quiet, no entertainment except for a Flamenco show and piano for octagenarian sing-a-longs but People - this is Torremolinos! - you can go to one of the 6000 bars and be part of the rowdies if you really want!

Personally I like to buy the best bottle of Port ( $12) I can find in the local store around the corner (on the touristy walk up to San Miguel St.) and sip it on the balcony at night and listen to the waves crash on the beach.

You can walk up the cliff stairs to the right of the hotel for exercise and be in the main town of Torremolinos in about 10 minutes and it's a different people-watching world.

A note to the British - Torremolinos is NOT the rough hang-out it was 15 - 20 years ago that you remember as a teen. The city has spent millions on a clean-up and please note that we found it cleaner than Gran Canaria and the tourists seemed a little classier too. Torremolinos was cleaner than Ronda which we found disappointing after being blown away by it 5 years ago. We also like it better than Portugal's Algarve even tho' the Algarve beaches are prettier and usually the people there are nicer.

Hotel staff were friendly, helpful and pleasant and the meal times can be busy with tours but for the price we were paying - we didn't really care. We found it quieter the later we went for breakfast and dinner. We were there off season and this is the 3rd time we've been to the area around that time of year. There were actually Americans in the restaurant which is a good sign - (they're quite picky) and a whole table labeled , "My Anmar" (Myanmar actually) one evening. Stiff Asian dignitaries arrived at this round table and I did find it fascinating since last October the big news concerned the disappearance of hundreds of monks in Myanmar. Were these guys plotting a coup or were they there for the German TV channel ? You never know what you'll see in Torremolinos.

Next review: Mexican day sailing trip with someone we eventually recognized on "America's Most Wanted". Look for title: "He seemed like an OK guy..."

“Brilliant, a real gem”

This is a great place to stay out of season. Every room has a balcony with sea view, which is one of the best features and doesn't seem to be given great emphasis by the hotel group. Hotel facilities, the buffet breakfast and service generally are well worthy of the 4-star rating. The swimming pool looks a bit small, but them it wasn't open in Feb so it wasn't an issue for us!

The hotel's own undercover car park is tiny, I only hope the occupants of the 500+ rooms don't all bring cars at the height of the season! There is usually plenty of free on-road parking just in front of the hotel though.

Location is at the end of the Bajondillo beach, so there's little passing traffic and it's very quiet. It's a nice walk round the seafront footpath to the other half of Torre - and some nice bars en route for refreshment. The walk directly into the town is up the cliff, up steep steps, so not ideal if that would be a challenge to you, but if you're reasonably fit it's a very pleasant walk up the winding narrow streets.

Just back from a great weekend at the hotel and, having chosen it on the strength of Trip Advisor reviews I thought I had better report back. We had a half board " Sol Melia Getaway " deal which was terrific value for money at 140 euros for 2 nights. The hotel was well looked after, not that busy because it is off peak , and I am looking forward to staying again. The room was spotless, spacious and well appointed with a side sea view. It just lacks tea/ coffee making facilities. However, what made our weekend was the exceptional quality of the buffet food. I have stayed in several Spanish hotels and this was the best I have had. Service was also efficient and attentive. It is a big hotel and I imagine that in the season, when full, the experience may not be so positive however my wife and I were impressed, and would recommend this hotel Having read this review, I hope it does not sound like a suspicious hotel inspired one but we really did rate the place !

Stayed here as part of a tour. Nice clean hotel with a great location. Nice terrace with View. Room had Twin beds pushed together. Management shut down Air conditioner at night. Gym was not much of a gym. Remember to get your room made up you must put out a card requesting that the room be made up.
