“Nice hotel, lovely rooms and great pools.”

Me and my girlfriend stayed here in june 08. We stayed in the hotel part (not apts) and I thought the rooms were lovely. Very spacious, nice bathroom and huge balcony. The pool areas were excellent (although not loads of room for sunbeds but spent all our time on the beach - fabulous). The free bus to the town or beach was a godsend as saved loads on taxi's, (although still speant a fair bit as kept missing the bus). We had a late departure when leaving and they wanted 50 euros to keep the room on, or you could use the baggage room and have the use of a courtesy room to get changed and showered for free, we opted for the courtesy room. When i asked to use it someone else was in there so they just gave as another one.
Overall I would say this is a lovely hotel (apart from Davideu the singer on a Sunday night)(although it was hilarious watching all the spanish pensioners dancing their flamenco shoes off, but even better was when he started playing achey breakey heart in spanish and the whole gang jumped up to line dance)

We have just returned from a stay of 3 days and 2 nights in an apartment in this hotel and wasn't love at first sight... not even at second or last!... And if you stay in an apartment in the back of the building don't go to the balcony, awfull sight to see!

We don't know how the rooms are there but the apartments are very, very old school, not really from this century but since we weren't there for the indoors we just stayed there to sleep and have a bath, so... beds were confurtable a bathroom worked... not bad, not bad... eaten worse and still lived to tell!

Breakfast 3/5, eatable food in suficient amounts but milk, coffee and juices are to forget... the machines were they come from barely work and employers don't seem to keep the higiene of it right!...

Swimingpool, another 3/5, only because the gym and jacuzzi were not opened, but still a good place to rest and take a swim in the slow hours of the mourning!

Overall a 2/5 just because of the room and the pour parking space around the hotel!

Well, it was cheap, what more could we want!?

“Had a great weekend at El Pinar”

EH El Pinar Hotel Torremolinos

We booked our long weekend through Easyjet and had a fantastic time.
Weather was fantastic and we really enjoyed our time at El Pinar. Yes there were lots of Spanish in the hotel but this added to the fun. In the evening they welcomed us Brits and taught us their dance routines with gusto!
I have read mixed reviews about the food. As an extremely fussy eater I found the buffett good value and always able to find something to eat of an evening.
Yes, it is a little remote if you want nightlife but a taxi will take you downtown which is inexpensive.
Rooms were really spacious with lots of hot water and maid came daily.
Only two bad comments. One was the mark up on the wine in the restaurant. It was in the region of 400% so I would recommend going to the supermarket and buying a couple of bottles and sit on the balcony before going to the restaurant. Lastly, they do not provide any tea/coffee making facilities and would suggest taking a travel kettle.
Bed and Breakfast is good value as there is plenty of choice and variety.

I would stay at the El Pinar again if I returned to Spain

“Basic, but cheap”

EH El Pinar Hotel Torremolinos

I have just got back from a week at this hotel. I echo the opinion that you get what you pay for. I expected a budget hotel because I paid a low price through easyjet and so did not go with high expectations. You know straight away that this will not be what you would expect from a 4* hotel in the UK because of the price!! If you want a quality hotel, pay more. If you pay peanuts for the holiday, then don't expect much.

The rooms were very basic, marketed as a s/c apartment that sleeps up to 4. We were squeezed into the bedroom in single beds, didn't leave much room to move. The "lounge" had a small hard sofa, not a sofa bed and there was no room for a 4th bed, so would love to know how they think it's up to 4 people! Luckily there was only 3 of us in the party - 2 adults and 1 child so we were ok. - just be warned, this is not an apartment which can realistically hold any more than this. The s/c facilities were terrible - no kettle (assumed as it was s/c I wouldn't need my travel one!), no grill or oven. Just 2 slow-heating hobs and a microwave (and a fridge). Try boiling water on one of the hobs and making brekkie at the same time lol. I found it odd that they supply a microwave but not a toaster, but I did notice that they sold microwave meals in the shop!!! On the plus side, there was a good supply of hot water and we had a great view from the spacious balcony.

The pool area was lovely, nice pool and very clean. But unfortunately, it was too cold to go in (expected this because of the time of year though).

The hotel was mainly full of aging Spanish couples, so the entertainment was set out for them (fair enough!). The bar was expensive though - 3.40 euros for a pint of beer (that's what I pay at home!!) and I noticed not many of the old couples were buying drinks!! I can't comment re the food as previous reviews had put me off eating there - helped by a conversation (albeit in pigeon spanish!!) I had with a spanish woman staying there who approached us and asked if we'd eaten there, with a disgusted look on her face and told us not to bother!!

The hotel is set out of the town but they do operate a free shuttle bus to the town and to the beach. This is on time and efficient, just be sure to look exactly where he drops you off if you want to go back on the bus!

The decor was very tired. The place is in desperate need of refurbishment, but it was clean. There is a strange fishy-bin-like smell sometimes which hits you outside, which is a bit dodgy, but I didn't get this in my room. The maid came everyday and did basic things like make the beds and change the towels.

WARNING - to those who are likely to hire a car. The hotel website mentions ample parking facilities, but fails to mention that they charge 4.50 euros a day for this. You can park outside of the hotel but it is very limited so it's a bit of a first come, first served. The hotel is on a hill and you might find that if you go out for the day, you will end up having to park right up the hill in the residential area or worse, have to admit defeat and pay for the day to park. This did annoy me to be honest because of the distance of the hotel to the town. We hired the car because we knew we'd be so far out and I have never stayed in a hotel where they charge you to leave your car there. Would have appreciated finding this out before we got there.

The hotel is very tired-looking, but this is reflected in the low cost. Don't pay too much to stay here and don't expect too much from it. At the end of the day, if you want somewhere cheap to stay and don't plan on staying in much, then it's fine.
