I think this is the 4th or 5th time that I have stayed at the Sol Don Pedro over the past 6 years. I return mainly for the location - excellent location on the seafront at Bajondillo beach. If travelling by taxi from Malaga airport it takes approx 15 mins and costs approx 16 euros one way.
Its worth giving an update on the hotel - as the previous stay was 2006.
As mentioned in previous write ups the hotel is part of the complex with the Don Marco and Don Pablo. Facilities of all three hotels are available whichever you stay in. The hotel seems to have an ongoing maintenance program which keeps everything looking fairy decent.
The restaurant is still busy offering the 'showcase' chef cooking. The queues for this can be quite long! Other buffet options are generous with choice. 'Hot food' can often be tepid. Perhaps they would be better doing a carvery?
The rooms do tend to be on the small side but comfortable and generally quiet. Superior rooms are located overlooking the main pool towards the sea front. Other rooms tend to overlook other parts of the hotel eg. car park, 2nd pool, tennis court etc. I would question the value of paying for a superior room just to get the 'sunny side'.
Entertainment is mixed - the best by far being the flamenco. Arrive early for the best seats! do check out the entertainment boards as the other hotels will have different shows on at the same time!
Other clientele tend to be couples of all ages wanting a relaxed holiday. The hotel has good child facilities as well. It is certainly not a hotel for single sex groups wanting a brash lively time!
All staff seem to be friendly and helpful!
