We went at the beginning of June for the weekend (fri - sun). We live in Spain and was staying there with my Son´s (Spanish) football team and their parents.
The rooms have a separate bedroom, kitchenette (fridge, microwave), bathroom and balcony.
They were very clean and we even had maid service on the Saturday which I wasn´t expecting. (No they don´t clean the kitchenette if you use it - but why should they!)
The hotel foyer is quite impressive and the reception staff were lovely.
The food was adequate.
The location is fab - you are one road back from the beach but if you turn right outside the hotel and keep walking straight you come to an amazing little cobbled windy road that takes you up the centre (there is a lift in the hotel to the top road -left of reception up some stairs) loads of quaint white washed gift shops - a real suprise.

We needed some days of sun and relax so we travelled to Malaga during july 2007. We knew that Costa del Sol is a horrible place, but it was cheap and the weather was guaranteed. Some instructions about the apartments:

All of them (not the studios) have a terrace. Try to ask for a one with sights to the pool, because if not you could not use it due to the mosquitoes (the patioes seem a swamp)

The apartments are large and the bathroom is ok. All the building is old fashioned and not weel cared and attended, but this is common in Torremolinos. I don't think other placed would be better. There is no elements to clean the kitchen and the service doesn't clean it (only the room).

The staff is nice but absolutely unfit. The cleaning service doesn't work on sundays, so ask for towels on the reception.

There is no lifeguard on the pool (and it is complulsory by law), so people leave the towel at 10am go to beach and the sun loungers are innecesarily occuped all day long, nobody controls the hygiene on the pool and nobody tells you there is a terrace on the last floor with enough sun loungers (the pool ones are impossible).

There is a lift inside the hotel to reach the town (the beach is on the lower side). Try to get it explained if you arrive by train from the airport.

Concluding, a good option for budget travelers (i paid 200 euros for 3 nights in july 2007) but if you need something "glamourous" avoid not only the apartmens (wich are good according to Torremolinos standard) but all the Costa del Sol.

What a horrible experience me and my friend went for both our 18th birthdays we booked to go for 2 weeks but only stayed the one week the room was discusting the ceiling was leaking in the toilet there were dirty plasters under our beds there was mould on the walls we went half board but i think they spent all the money doing up the self catering studio's because they looked state of the art. The holiday discription explained that they catered for vegiterians thats all i ate was chips every night everything else was meat and the same thing day after day. The actual town wasn't much better my friend got mugged so i would say my overall stay was terrible.

“Great location, but a little dated.”

I stayed here for a short break with my sisters mid September.

Torremolinos itself is a lovely little town, with plenty of shops and places to eat. It is also well situated for the airport, which is around a 15-20 minute drive.

The hotel is in an ideal location for both the beach and the town of Torremolinos.
The lift mentioned in previous reviews is great to cut out the steep hill that leads to the town.

The outdoor pool area is clean and well maintained with plenty of sun loungers. The indoor pool seemed deserted and extremely uninviting, but the sun was shinning so there was no need to be inside. We didn’t eat at the hotel, but we had a couple of drinks in the small bar area most evenings. The bar was quiet with not a lot in the way of entertainment. This was fine for us as that is what we wanted, but if you are after a lively evening, you might be better staying elsewhere.

We found our room and the surrounding corridor quite dingy. We were on the forth floor and did not have a view of anything, plus the corridor outside had no natural light. The room was cleaned to a high standard, but the decor and facilities were dated. The kitchenette was extremely basic but functional.

All in all we enjoyed our stay here, but I’m not sure I would stay here again.

Nice hotel, perfect location near beach and center. Elevator to the street leading to the center was nice but you have to be back at the hotel before midnight to be able to use it. Very friendly and helpful staff at reception, especially mr Paco. Cleaning good, new towels daily. Nice poolarea. Rooms spacious and had everything we needed, all necessary equipment in the kitchen, powerful aircondition, TV did not work well and had only spanish tv-channels. The only problem is that if you have noisy neighbours then you will not get any sleep as you can even hear people talking in the next room. We were lucky so we really enjoyed our stay at Aguamarina and will recommend this hotel to our friends.
