we just got back from the sol don marco, just a short break for my husband and myself. wot a great location just over the road from the beach. lots of places to eat and drink. the pools at the hotel ,very good and as you can use the sol don pedro to ,wot lot of a choice.. breakfast was good ,very fresh, and the eve entertainment was very good. we will be going back.

Husband and I stayed at Sol Don Marco for our third anniversay in June 2008. We booked this hotel because we simply wanted a good hotel, at a good price, that we would really just use in the evenings to nap in, and of course at night to sleep in. If you're looking for an "all-inclusive" experience, this isn't the place for you. We got a taxi from the airport at 20 Euros, which we were happy to pay instead of taking the bus, given that it was near midnight.

Overall a good hotel - our room was a double sized room (i.e. two twin beds placed together) overlooking the centre courtyards of the Sol Don Pablo and Don Marco. Our room was 3009. If you want a good night's sleep or are a sensitive sleeper, I don't recommend a room looking into the courtyard because the night shows across the way in the Don Pablo bar area go on until 1am and are very loud. I sleep with earplugs and my husband is Deaf, so we weren't too bothered.

The clientele at the hotel was pretty much mid-40s to retirement age. We were some of the youngest people there (late 20s). The pool scene is the same - mostly older couples, which was fine with us because we were there to relax, not to do heavy partying.

Breakfast was the only meal we had in the hotel - which was mostly good - the eggs are a bit watery, so I suggest asking the chef to make you an omelette instead. Don't arrive too early at 7.30, as at this time not all of the food has been set out. My husband had an early golf game, so he had to eat a bunch of bread and fruit, given that the hot meats and eggs weren't out yet when we arrived. Also had some poolside drinks - very good.

Easy two minute walk to the beach across the street. Places that we ate at and recommend are: Uncle Willy's chiringuito, La Paella (both on the main street where the hotel is located), Bodega Quitapenas (cheap drinks!) and La Bodega (both on San Miguel street, the former on the steps leading up to the city centre), and a french restaurant on the street parallel to San Miguel - I don't remember the name of the street - but it's the only French restaurant on it.

Would stay here again.

when we booked this bank holiday break we were told by Travel Republick that our original hotel the Sol don Pablo was overbooked and we were offered a transfer to the don Marco with a Superior room we of course gratefully accepted .
Although the hotel is 4star rating we found on arrival that there was no porter ,the room was very small although the Bathroom did have both bath and walk in power shower the superior upgrade that we werre offered was a sea view which also overlooked the Main promenade (could be noisy especially late at night )same room as any in the hotel .
The food you had an option to eat in either of the sister hotels in the same complex ,one was 3 star the other 4star we found it difficult to differentiate ,the food in general although there was lots of it was Fresh Clean and everso boring it would have helped if the Menu/Selection were changed more often

Just returned from a 7 night stay at the sol don marco.

This is a lovely hotel not too far from the centre of Torremolinos.

It shares all the ameneties of its sister hotels which means you have another restaurant to dine in and 8 pools to lounge around.

the food in the hotel is standard buffet fare allowing a few meat, fish and vegetarian options each evening.

the only downside is this hotel is on the edge of the resort and a lift or over 100 steps are required to get to the town. however once you;ve done this ones it never seems quote as bad as the 11st time...
