Just rteturned from th Sol Don Marko. 5.5.09 - 12.5. 09
This was our third stay in this hotel, which should say it all.
2 years exactly since our last stay and everything was again first class.
Jaime Floyer is still the manager which again tells you everything, and is still greeting people in the dining room!!!
O.K prices are higher in the town and on the promenade but still cheaper than England. e.g 1 pint of san meguel 2 euros. 1 pint of stella in Shrewsbury £3.10p!!!!
3 course meal at the Teneriffe Restaurant on the San Megeual steps 12 euros including a bottle of wine.
We stayed bed and breakfast and the food was very good if a little same same and as previously reported typical for a spanish hotel.
TIP if you want a real value for money and quality meal take the walk towards Benalmadena along the front and find the COSY NOOK. 2 starters + 2 steaks + bottle of wine for 22.50 euros!! all home cooked, with all potatoes hand peeled and cut!!.
Again this hotel was superb, and i would have no hesitation reccomending it to anybody.
Very cheap to travel from Torremolinos to Marbella on the bus 3.95 euro, but if you want to go to Porta Banuse you need a taxi

Perfect beach front location, close to the shopping centre, well kept hotel with many friendly staff and the room was cleaned every day (the cleaners were the friendliest of all). The food needed a bit more variety, but it was good that we were able to change dinner for lunches as there are many fine restaurants on the beach. We only had five days here after Jetline Travel tried desperatley to ruin our holiday, but they were a great five days nonetheless.

On arrival the reception area was very pleasant, well furnished and very quiet. We paid extra for a sea view room. Expecting the hotel to be directly on the beach I was upset to realise that a main road runs along the front of the hotel and that there is also a restaurant directly in front. Together with workmen laying the pavement directly in front of our room , expectations before the holiday were shattered as I heard the sound of the drill and JCB!. The rooms are adequate and typical of a 3 star in Spain. The staff on reception were very helpful when I asked to change rooms the following day. Our next room was on the 4th floor overlooking the arrivals area but we could still see the sea and more importantly, we couldn't hear the workmen. The hotel is spotless and the cleaning staff very pleasant and helpful. The food was fine also, no complaints from us in that respect. The only complaint I had was the "entertainment", and I use that word loosely. On Broadway Night I was foolishly expecting to hear show songs, instead we got dancing and miming to the songs. Again, a poster was displayed showing Elvis and the Beatles so I thought, great, it will be songs from the 60's and 70's. Wrong. They were dancing and miming yet again. The biggest laugh I had was when one of them mimed to The Great Pretender by Roy Orbison. We did pay and go to the Rat Pack show at the hotel which was very good. The hotel is situated in a nice spot. There is a pleasant walk on the sea front to Benalmadina and also up the steps into Torremolinos centre. I wouldn'nt go back out of season as my husband and I were the youngest there and we are both in our early 50's. It was just a bit too quiet for us. However it was very relaxing during the day but I can imagine it would be very busy high season with the 3 hotels in the same complex.

Just returned from 7 nights half board at Sol Don Marco hotel this was our second visit,and again it was excellent.Paid supplement for sea view,room number 4008, which was excellent, Bathroom was large with seperate shower cubicle.Two sets of doors out onto balcony, you don't hear any road noise on promenade.
All our meals were taken at sister hotel Sol Don Pablo which is joined on,the other restaurant (sol don pedro) was closed during our stay .Meals were 1st class with excellent choice,show cooking untill restaurant closed at 10pm.
Choice of day/evening entertainment in pedro or pablo hotels.with real log fire in lounge area of pedro hotel.The weather was poor with rain most days,but has to be expected in March.
Done day trip to Gibralter paid extra for express coach,which still took 2.5 hrs and 8 pick-up points.Remember to use English pounds not Euros as all prices are in pounds.
