Hotel is part of a complex - Don Marco, Don Pablo and Don Pedro - so all facilities can be used at any of the hotels. Location is great, right on the sea front.

The Don Marco is the quieter of the 3 and doesnt really offer any entertainment, it's based in the other 2 hotels.

Walk into town takes about 10 minutes either walking up the hill or by the sea front and up the steps.. But plenty shops/bars/restaurants around so no need to go into town.

When we checked in we were offered a sea view at no extra charge but on the 1st floor - we said yes, and even tho this was the same floor as the pool/sun deck this wasn't a problem as the glazing was double/treble glazed so quiet.

The free wi-fi is great, altho our room was on the front it didnt pick up a signal so we had to go down into the lounge or use the hotels internet sessions which ere E1 for 15 mins, which isnt bad.

Breakfast was OK - I've had better at other SOL 4 star hotels. The room was busy and shared with the Don Pablo. We were only bed and breakfast so can't comment on the lunch/dinner.

There are 9 pools to choose from but the Don Marco is the quietest as the others have aqua or pools games (polo) most of the day. There is a varied entertainment and activtity programmer for adults and children within the complex - but don't let this put you off if you are looking for a quieter break as the Don Marco pool was much quieter as no activties in the hotel.

The room was great with 2 single beds puched together. Bathroom had bath and seperate shower which was nice and towels were changed daily. There is a free fridge in the room and pay safe. TV had many channels including BB1, sky news, CNN and More4 - so always something in English.

The parking has its own underground car park which charge E15 a night - but even tho it was summer and peak season we still found a space on the road outsice every night.

The front desk staff were great - the females in perticular very friendly and offered great customer service.

There is a pool towel hire service E10 deposit per towel refundable at the end. E1 if you want to change for a clean towel - saves having to carry towels.

We booked via Alpha rooms who offered a great rate but being high season we still paid E80 a night.

Torremolinos is not the 'Brit' resort it used to be, and caters for Spanish and Irish these days, but there are still a few Brit bars dotted around.

We chose this hotel because we are sol/melia MAS reward club members and even tho it was 4* we have stayed in better SOl 4* in Spain.

This was my 4th time staying at the Sol Don Marco and I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Torremolinos. The rooms are 1st class, immaculate with prestine bathrooms with a fullsize bath and separate shower cubicle. We stayed on a half board basis and eat our meals at the 4 star sister hotel, Sol Don Pablo which is just a short stroll through the courtyard. The restaurant within the Marco is just rated 3 star. Meals were also good, plenty of choice for breakfast (omlettes can be made to order as well - just ask the chef at the pancakes and fried eggs). Entertainment on everynight, was light-hearted. Entertainmment team singing, dancing, mimiming ( the team put their heart and sole into this) as well as professional dancers. Prefessional shows included Flemenco, tribute bands and magician. There is also an excellent kids club. Spanish lessons and dancing lessons are also included in the daytime entertainments programme. Location is top notch, directly overlooking the beach. A short walk will take you to the town centre, it is up a steep hill but there is the option to take the lift which is 50 cents a ride (well worth it!). We were there in July and it was not too busy at all, although the hotel was well booked up. There was a relaxed atmostphere and plenty of sunbeds for all. I would recommend this hotel without any hestitation!

We have just returned from the Don Pedro /Don marco / Don Pablo. All three hotels are together andyou can use all three lots of ammenities. We actually booked the Don Pedro but upgraded to a superior room at a cost of £60 for 8 nights. The superior room was actually the Don Marco although its was hard to tell as they use the same corridor. For the extra room you get a fridge sea / pool view a walk in shower and the rooms seam to have been recently decorated to a good quality. I would not say thet the rooms are any bigger though. The rooms as all the hotel are spotless and cleaned everyday.
The public areas are fantastic with nine pools(some small kids) and nice flowers and features to make a relaxing areas. Whether it was the hot weather but the pools were very warm, oh and there are two jacuzzi's as well.
The food was usual spanish standard but they did have an Italian corner serving past and pizza which was a bit different. You can use either resturant, with the Don Pablo being slightly better.
As for the surrounding area you are very close to shops bars and the beach is just over the road and is very good if slightly shingle.
When you go into the water there is quite a steep slope so be careful with very small kids.
Eating out and entertainment... We were half board so only ate out for lunch. There are plenty of places about but we found the Tudor rose to very good. they also had very good veggie options including burger and roast dinner.
Shannigans and the irish affair gave the best entertainment and very friendly. (all out of the back of the hotel and to the left)

All in all agreat holiday and we could not find anything to com plain about.

I stayed at Sol Don Marco the first week fo June 2009.
The hotel is situated right across the street from teh beach and many bars/restaurants and shops. This hotel is also very a short walking distance to the lift that can take up to Calle san miguel where there are even more shops and restaurtans. The rooms are well equiped and very clean. This hotels is in a complex with another 2 Sol hotels, don pablo and don pedro, so you have access to around 5-7 pool between the 3 hotels.
The food was good, nothing out of the ordinary, but it was well prepared and there was a number of things to choose from, there are 2 restaurants Cordoba wich is located in teh sol don Pablo and casares wich is at Don Pedro/Marco, even though they both had more or less the same food, the one at Don Pablo seemed a bit better.
If you are traveling alone this might not be the hotel for you, as its heavely catered to family and couples.
Overall i had good experience here and i would defenetly return here.

Just rteturned from th Sol Don Marko. 5.5.09 - 12.5. 09
This was our third stay in this hotel, which should say it all.
2 years exactly since our last stay and everything was again first class.
Jaime Floyer is still the manager which again tells you everything, and is still greeting people in the dining room!!!
O.K prices are higher in the town and on the promenade but still cheaper than England. e.g 1 pint of san meguel 2 euros. 1 pint of stella in Shrewsbury £3.10p!!!!
3 course meal at the Teneriffe Restaurant on the San Megeual steps 12 euros including a bottle of wine.
We stayed bed and breakfast and the food was very good if a little same same and as previously reported typical for a spanish hotel.
TIP if you want a real value for money and quality meal take the walk towards Benalmadena along the front and find the COSY NOOK. 2 starters + 2 steaks + bottle of wine for 22.50 euros!! all home cooked, with all potatoes hand peeled and cut!!.
Again this hotel was superb, and i would have no hesitation reccomending it to anybody.
Very cheap to travel from Torremolinos to Marbella on the bus 3.95 euro, but if you want to go to Porta Banuse you need a taxi
