We stayed in the apartments in this complex for one week at the end of October.

The complex closed the day we were leaving for refurbishment. They are hopefully upgrading the hotel from 3 Star to 4 Star. The layout around the pool at the apartments is being changed to incorporate a lake. An underground car park is being built and the disco removed which we were told caused too much hassle.

Got the feeling that everyone was on meltdown. The pool area is Flinstones themed and has some Flinstones characters and paraphenalilia which as the week went on disappeared.

The hotel reception and lobby is shared between the hotel and apartments. The lobby is huge and spotlessly clean although the smell of disinfectant and other cleaning agents from the toilets is a bit overpowering.

The apartments are well equipped if not a little strangely laid out. The ‘kitchen in a press’ is behind two pull out doors. The apartments are cleaned everyday, even if you leave the Do Not Disturb Sign on the door (we had a 2 year old with us who wanted a lie in) they will come back later to clean.

The large pool and the kiddies pool out by the apartments looked like they could do with a bit of the disinfectant from the toilets. This again could have been due to the fact that the were closing that week. The area around the pool was ok, there are plenty of sun loungers and parasols but the area was swarming with flies, it was unbearable.

The complex is very secure, to the back of the hotel there are two gates which you use your room card to exit/enter onto the promenade/beach.

Outside of the complex to the front there are a few shops, a supermarket and a pharmacy. To the back there is the beach and promenande. The beach was full of sticks/twigs and dirty.

We knew when booking that it was a quiet time of the year but DEAD QUIET doesn’t explain it properly. The only entertainment within the complex was a gentleman singing and playing an electronic keyboard in the lounge every evening! Outside the complex, albeit close to Torremolinos centre it was just too quiet. I would imagine the complex is very busy in July and August.

Having stayed previous years in the Timor Sol, we would much prefer that area, its a little livelier (even in October) but not hectic like Torremolinos centre and the beach is clean. If only the this complex was in that area then it would be perfect for us.

“Very dissapointing”

We stayed here for a week in september, with our 3 year old girl and 14 month old boy.

Normally not fussy but very dissapointed by these apartments.

You'll be deceived at check in as the hotel and apartments have a common check in area. The hotel itself is actually quite nice, I couldn't find a reason to fault, my parensts had the good luck to book a room while we were there. Beware of the reception desk, queuing is an alien concept, don't politely stand back and wait your turn. That said the reception staff are extremely pleasant and helpful, when you do eventually get to the front.

Back to the apartments; after check in there is quite a walk to the apartments. not good if you have cranky beligerent children, and a load of luggage.

The apartment was frankly dire, and it seemed from other people we spoke to others were similar. They didnt appear to have been cleaned, there is a horrible 70's feel to them with the big bare walls and false ceiling. The kitchenette is in a kind of cupboard thing, too hard to explain, but petrified us as we couldn't lock it and therefore all the knives etc were in toddler reach. The furniture was very worn. The requested cot was not in place, and took an age to be sorted. Eco warriors will be glad to know that the Air Con system will not be contributing to climate change. It was a mystery that would have baffled Einstein

We had a ground floor apartment, we thought it would be safer with the younger of our two kids, bu it turned out that he could easily climb out through the railings in the patio area. This meant the sliding door had to be kept closed. We also had an infestation of wild cats on the patio, someone must have been feeding them.

The pool area, hhhmmmmmm. The kiddies pool got cloudier as each day went on, I hope the slick was from sun cream. Main Pool was okay ish, but again there was an occasional slick in the corners. The sunbathing area was grass, and home to many many ants, who took pleasure in going on their own holidays in our stuff, if we made the mistake of leaving it down.

I'm not normally so negative about a place, but even after a month or more has since passed, I still feel terribly dissapointed.

Plus Points--- we were only there for a week, not two. Only kidding, ether were some pluses,

Entertainment
The entertainment for the kids was excellent, bar sunday night which is eco night, and frankly frightened the [--] out of them. The shows are really well done, and the staff are stone mad about kids. The saving grace for this place. And really the hotel is very very good. The kids go potty for the flinstones, dont know why, none of them have seen them on telly

Food
Buffet style dinner 16 euro each, kids were free. Okay if you judge how good your meal was by how much it weighed. Depressing after a few nights. By the way Bronco Burger by the pool is scary, don't do it

Torremolinos itself.
Left me cold, charmless soulless kind of place. The beach and water were filthy.

the hotel was lovely and the staff are very friendly. We loved the entertainment and the pool. The beach is a short walk across a main road. We found by accident a fantastic pub abd when I say pub I mean pub. It is run by a brilliant family Kevin Carol Glyn and Robert they has DVDs to keep the kids occupied games and colourings we didnt see our kids for a week. The food is brilliant, their prices are so cheap we diddnt see the point of waisting money once we had found the vic. YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE VIC or you have missed one of the best pubs in Playamar

We did'nt stay in the Hotel but in the apartments. I was very pleased with them. They were clean and comfortable. Even when we put the 'do not disturb' sign on the door, the children did not want to get up too early. The staff came back later to clean our room which really surprised me. The only thing that disappointed me was the fact that in the brochures there was supposed to be a 'Rocha Sports' club for 9-13 year olds. There was nothing for my 12 and 13 year old to do. Their ideal holiday is not sitting at a pool all day.
We also went to Tivoli World. I felt it was a bit of a rip of. You had to pay 6 euros entrance each which was fair enough. But then you had to pay 10 euros each for arm bands.Did that cover everything? Oh no, there was some things you had to pay extra for for example, the house of terror (I think that was the name) you had to pay 5 euros each. There was another couple as well you had to pay extra. There was something else about tickets which none of us could understand. I can only assume you used these if you had no armbands.

I have just returned from a week at the sol principito apartments. last year i stayed in the hotel part. i find this complex absolutely fantastic.

the location is excellent and the apartments are fine. the beach is a 2 minute walk away and the main shopping area is a 5 euro taxi ride or 20/25 minute walk away. there are 2 swimming pools and a kiddies pool. the pool on the hotel side seems to be used more by older persons whilst the pool on the other side is very family orientated and is patrolled by a lifeguard til 7 pm. there are no shortage of loungers but et down early if you wish to get one poolside.

the apartments have all the essentials in them that you require for a sun holiday except a kettle but we just boiled the water in a pot. there is a little cafe and supermarket along with other gift shops in the complex.

the entertainment side of things is also excellent. there is a childrens club which is on daily. this is free for 4 hours a day and if children wish to do a full day package they cost 35 euro for a 5 days.

the staff are extremely helpful and there is a show on every night which the adults and children both love. there is a mini disco on at 9pm every night for children before the show starts.

i wouild have no hesitation in recommending this complex, it really is excellent.
