We did'nt stay in the Hotel but in the apartments. I was very pleased with them. They were clean and comfortable. Even when we put the 'do not disturb' sign on the door, the children did not want to get up too early. The staff came back later to clean our room which really surprised me. The only thing that disappointed me was the fact that in the brochures there was supposed to be a 'Rocha Sports' club for 9-13 year olds. There was nothing for my 12 and 13 year old to do. Their ideal holiday is not sitting at a pool all day.
We also went to Tivoli World. I felt it was a bit of a rip of. You had to pay 6 euros entrance each which was fair enough. But then you had to pay 10 euros each for arm bands.Did that cover everything? Oh no, there was some things you had to pay extra for for example, the house of terror (I think that was the name) you had to pay 5 euros each. There was another couple as well you had to pay extra. There was something else about tickets which none of us could understand. I can only assume you used these if you had no armbands.

I have just returned from a week at the sol principito apartments. last year i stayed in the hotel part. i find this complex absolutely fantastic.

the location is excellent and the apartments are fine. the beach is a 2 minute walk away and the main shopping area is a 5 euro taxi ride or 20/25 minute walk away. there are 2 swimming pools and a kiddies pool. the pool on the hotel side seems to be used more by older persons whilst the pool on the other side is very family orientated and is patrolled by a lifeguard til 7 pm. there are no shortage of loungers but et down early if you wish to get one poolside.

the apartments have all the essentials in them that you require for a sun holiday except a kettle but we just boiled the water in a pot. there is a little cafe and supermarket along with other gift shops in the complex.

the entertainment side of things is also excellent. there is a childrens club which is on daily. this is free for 4 hours a day and if children wish to do a full day package they cost 35 euro for a 5 days.

the staff are extremely helpful and there is a show on every night which the adults and children both love. there is a mini disco on at 9pm every night for children before the show starts.

i wouild have no hesitation in recommending this complex, it really is excellent.

“Great out of season holidays”

We just came back from a 5 week holiday on the Costa del Sol .we stayed in the Sol Principito Apartments , part of the Sol Principe hotel complex.
We were there the last week of January 2007 and the month of of February .It was absolutely fantastic .The premises were ultra clean ,they could not stop sweeping etc. throughout the entire complex. The location is great just across from the promenade along the Mediteranean ,it is about 12 kilometers long .To be noted we were there at the begining of the season and a number of restaurants and hotels were still closed .It was very serene and quiet ,but I must imagine in popular holiday season with lots of families vacationing it must be quite noisy.
The hotel /apt complex share all facilities and programs ,they are planned for every day and evening. The dining room is vast and offers a good varied menu , but we choose to eat out or picknick in since we had kitchen facilities in our apt. There are numerous places to purchase food in the immediate area.
Public transportation ,bus and train is very good .For touring you get better value in travel agencies outside the hotel, and end up in the same bus tour since all those who sell tours send their clients to a common carrier.
Be aware that most Spaniards speak only Spanish which is a problem but at the end you learn to make do.
Hey I could go on ,but it is very nice and I would return.

Me, my partner and our baby daughter stopped here at the end of Jan for a week, it was surprising good, we were surprised to discover it was a 3 star not 4! The rooms were excellent, staff very friendly. Locations right on the beach. Very quiet at this time of year, which is what we wanted given we had our baby daughter with us. Surprising low cost as well. Summary very good !

Stayed in the apartments with my mum and 9 year old daughter mid August for 5 days.

The apartments are okay but nothing special. They are all one bedroomed (separated from the hall by big sliding doors). The bedroom has twin beds and there are two single sofas in the living area. The 'kitchen' is behind two small doors and consists of a two ring electric hob a sink and a microwave - no kettle.

The bathroom was dull - large brown tiles from floor to ceiling and some were cracked. The sink was outside in the hall which we thought was a bit odd. There is a hairdryer (one you keep your finger on to work).

Our air conditioning leaked. I phoned to report it but the girl didn't seem to understand what I was saying. However she promised to send someone up - they never came.

Maids were in every other day. Floors/utilities were cleaned but beds and towels not changed. Not fussed about the beds but I would have liked clean towels after a couple of days.

There is no iron and you cannot borrow one. You have to use their laundry service.

The hotel was occupied by Spanish and Irish mainly. All the staff were Spanish and the entertainment and kids clubs were managed by Spanish staff. It seemed to be mainly Spanish kids in the clubs.

The evening entertainment is outside. The show lasts one hour from 10.30 - 11.30pm. They finish it off from 11.30 to 12 by singing some spanish songs. The 1hr shows are very professional and entertaining. For the kids they play a couple of games between 9.30 and 10. Not much really for them but they seem to enjoy it. There is indoor entertainment but this seemed to just be a woman singing (that people were dancing to)

The hotel theme is Flintstones and this was done in a very non tacky way. The bronco burger bar was very clean and the menu, though limited, was very good and reasonably priced.

At night it could be quite noisy especially when people are coming home. The corridors seems to carry the noise and the walls are not very thick.

Plenty loungers and the pool is great. Lots going on such as spinning classes and daily aqua aerobics which were great fun. Also water polo for those who like that.

The location itself was okay. Quiet and family orientated which we liked. We ate out all the time and managed to find a few nice places. If you are young and looking for discos I guess you would have to go into the town centre but its only 5 euro in a taxi or just over a euro on the bus.

Would we go back. In all honesty probably not. I just didn't think the apartments were nice enough - too small and too basic.
