Our first experience of all inclusive, which was great overall, but as vegetarians our meal choices were limited and became repetitive. We thought the setting was lovely: we were fortunate as our room was in a quiet location on the site. There are many things available to do, i.e. archery, rifle shooting, yoga, aquaerobics, team water games, table tennis, pool and the two (very different) pools but there is no pressure to do anything. Got slightly irritated by the animators engaging us in conversation when we were relaxing and reading, but overall they worked hard and did a good job. The show they put on in the theatre was very good. We didn't mind the slope up and down to the restaurant, bar, beach and pool but we are reasonably fit: it would be difficult for anyone with health problems. We really liked our bungalow room but felt a kettle and an airer would be useful additions. Beautiful beach and clear sea, easy access by bus around the island; also good for people who like walking. We are looking forward to going again.

We spent 3 days in this hotel after crazy time in loud Ibiza. Hotel is perfect place for families with children and people. Good-looking with very nice staff. All inclusive includes expensive alkohols. Landscapes are amazing. Perfect for holidays!

Had a week there in the middle of September. Temperatures were above average. Slight frain & electrical storm to view on our last night.

The apartment complex is situated between woodland and an access road. 2-tier, inter-linking apartment blocks with good pathways & greenery. Rooms were certainly outdated, but rep said they were undergoing an upgrade to make them studio apartments. Kept very clean with daily maid service.

Reception staff were very good at giving us a change of room when asked for - we thought we were too far away from main social area - so perhaps ask for a room in the 300's category if available. Rep said that tour co.policy was not to let out upper apartments, due to the stupidity of Brits 'jumping off balconies'! So ground floor it was, which had patio area for sitting out.

**WARNING** - the accommodation blocks are separated from the main action areas - pool, restaurant & bar - by a steep hill, prob 1:7 gradient, so may be unsuitable for elderly or those with heart or breathing problems. Winding pathway for access, it left us gasping at some points, with straining leg & bum muscles.

That apart, the restaurant had good food variety and the bar supplied international blends on our all-inclusive. Staff all over were very friendly, and looked for us Scots to serve amidst their usual Italian & Spanish customers. Only other Scot we met was working as part of the entertainments squad.

Modern theatre complex at the opposite end of the beach had nightly shows, and separate bar & small pool area. Tennis court & football areas.

The main pool area was good & had daily activities. Lots of sunbeds available on 3-4 terraces. Beach adjacent was good & slightly rocky with watersports available,.

Had been to Formentera once before as part of a day boat trip from Ibiza, and said we would return. Hired a car to explore the island and went to the shops at the main port area. Also found the best beaches on the island at Can Islas, which the locals use. Slightly ripped off at the beach restaurant where a 'macaroni' set you back 16 euros.

All in all a good break, but probablty won't return as this was the return trip!

Room tip: Rooms numbered in 300's are nearest the action areas & not too far to walk.

Clean simple rooms, lovely beach views from the pool and restaurant but what a distance to get there! So after eating your fill in the restaurant you have an exhausting hike back up to your room - Good exercise though. For us seafood lovers the food was excellent and the views, beach and sunsets even better (the best parts) ! Luckily being there in September the weather wasn't to stuffy and humid in the evening so we didn't need an air con not that we had a choice because you don't get one in the room but I would not like to find out what it's like in peak summer! The resort is best suited to families with young kids- it took a while to get the children's songs out of our heads and we still laugh about it to this day! It's in a great location on the island with easy transport options to get around (local bus / scooters/ bicycles) All in all an okay stay but maybe for too high a price.

We really liked the Formentera Maryland and it would be suitable for couples and families.
The one aspect that stops it from being ideal is the three hundred strides needed to climb up and down between the bungalows area and the restaurant, main area & pool at beach level.
We have since checked and this is not made clear in the hotel’s or any other documentation about the hotel.
This climb, which was necessary to fully enjoy the facilities needs to be completed a numbers of times a day and may make this hotel inappropriate for anyone who does not want make this exertion while on holiday.
The Formentera Maryland is a large complex built on the side of a hill and is set amid a pine forest. It can take 10-minutes to walk across the bungalow area.
Our bungalow was situation looking out on to the pine forest, which was lovely and we were fortunate to be away from the road, paths and evening entertainment area. This meant we could relax and enjoy as we wished.
• Rooms are in need of modernisation
• Bedrooms and beds are small
• Food was good but a bit repetitive
• Animators and activities they organised were first-rate
• Music could be very loud and repetitious.
• Quite and peace can be found by walking to the smaller second swimming pool area at the top of the hill.
• All the restaurant and welfare people were very friendly and helpful
• Walking on the beaches was a joy, please watch out for rocks under the sand
• Public bus service was good and we were able to see much of the island using them
• Take the time to sit with a drink and watch the sunset.
Black Mark: We found that our Tour Company and their Rep were not very helpful when we need some support.

Room tip: away from the road, paths and evening entertainment area, near beach area
