Stayed in this hotel with three friends at the end of Sept 07. We were very impressed with the grand deluxe room. Good size, fantastic bath tub, walking in shower and good views from the balcony. It has flat screen tv with several english channels.... including BBC1 etc!

Swimming pools are excellent. The gym is adequate. Good steam room and sauna.

Fantastic restaurant but expensive.

Overall it was an excellent stay for the price but you do need a car to get around as it is quite far from anywhere. Very quiet so it is easy to relax.

Pricey but worth the experience.

Wanted a quiet few days to chill with partner and this we achieved. Stayed in a deluxe room and it was well worth the extra money. However, if you like to walk in the evenings there is nowhere to go except down a hill surrounded by golf courses-nowhere to walk to i.e. a bar or pavement cafe/ shops. Found the children in the restaurant after 10pm off-putting, as the restaurant ambience, staff and food deserved a better environment than children crying and adults fretting! Disliked the smoking policy of allowing smoking on the terrace where the food is served-very unpleasant as the tables whilst large are fairly close. The cleanliness of the hotel in general and rooms was excellent and the attitude of staff respectful and refreshing. The antiquities and paintings were a lovely addition we hadn't anticipated and whilst the building was old the furnishings were of high quality and not jaded. Overall we were pleased to stay there for our short break but would have felt restricted had we been there for longer. The standard of the room cannot be over-stated although for the price we paid I would not have expected less.

The hotel is top notch and fully deserves its 5 star rating. All the surroundings from the common areas - pool, bar, terrace, dining room - to the rooms - are excellent. Sheer luxury. Dining in the evening is quite formal - fine if you like to dress up. If not, then a taxi to Palma is around 10 euros.

We decided on a last minute trip in late July to get away from the dreadful English summer.
We chose the Son Vida mainly because it was one of only a few 5 star hotels with space at short notice.
What an excellent choice! The property itself has recently been totally refurbished and is now in virtually new condition. Our room which was a deluxe room was large, very well fitted in a traditional theme with super big marble bathroom with walk in shower. We had a small but quite adequate terrace over looking the immaculate gardens The enormous bed was very comfortable and the overall feeling was one of a 'no expense spared' refurbishment.
The staff were so professional and would go out of their way to ensure everything was exactly as you wanted and were obviously very highly trained with nothing too much trouble for them.
Although we ate out in Palma most evenings we did have a couple of meals in the main terrace restaurant and the food and service was of top quality and a coffee and brandy on the upper terrace overlooking Palma was looked forward to each evening.
With Palma only a few minutes away in a chauffer driven S class Mercedes (or Bentley if you prefer!) the setting of the hotel is perfect with total peace and quiet. Unfortunately I did not have the chance to try the adjacent golf course this trip but from what I saw of it looks to be of the highest quality.
We will definitely return to this excellent establishment and would recommend it to anyone who is looking to spoil themselves in complete luxury
