fantastic location, nice courtyard for breakfast but a bit 'foisty' also the dawn chorus woke us every morning even with the windows closed. superior rooms overlooking the courtyard only seemed to have twin beds..not very romantic but the rooms are better than the smaller double bed rooms which seemed dark and pokey. staff were helpful and friendly and the hotel was probably what you would expect for the price although a lift would have been nice to get us up and down from the 3rd floor!

Four of us stayed for four nights - the two who stayed in a courtyard facing room loved the hotel without reservation, of the two who had single rooms facing the lane one could not sleep and would not return except to a courtyard facing room and the other loved the hotel and might be persuaded to return even to a noisy single room.

The breakfast was fine with good fresh coffee and ensaimadas with tinned and fresh fruit, ham, cheese, salami, cereal and yoghourt. You can have drinks in the courtyard if you ask at reception and these were reasonably priced considering the peace and beauty of the setting. The staff were polite and helpful, the hotel a little shabby but clean and beautiful and very centrally located. Bathrooms large and showers good.

The hotel had obviously taken the hint about rooms being cold (see other reviews) at night as the heating blasted out all night and we had to turn the radiators off.

Would definitely recommend this hotel but probably suggest booking a courtyard facing room especially when the rates are so reasonable.

We recently stayed for 1 night at the Hotel Born in Palma.

The hotel was beautiful and full of character. We had a room overlooking the courtyard and there was no noise from the city outside.

The hotel is very centrally situated and is close to a bus stop for busses to Plaza Espana from where one can get a bus to the airport and busses and trains to other places on the island.

My only criticism was the soundproofing inside the hotel. Every little noise from next door could be heard.

The Born scores highly on location (top of the The Born - surprisingly enough...). It's an impressive old building with courtyard, beautiful lobby, and impressive staircases, and the staff are hyper friendly and helpful.
I had a single room so unfortunately had no view (and no natural light) but it was spotlessly clean with good heating (which I had to turn off the room was so warm). I went with friends who stayed in a twin room - and that had excellent views over the courtyard.
Breakfast is meagre but perfectly adequate and they make the coffee fresh for every cup you order which is good and more than you get in a lot of higher starred places.
You have to ring a bell to get in after midnight but that's not really a problem.
