“Relaxing Break That Was Spoilt”

Hotel Cala 'n Blanes

Booked this Holiday last minute for myself and my 18year old Son. After booking i read different reviews on the Hotel which left me with mixed feelings.
Flew with First Choice with no delays.
Coach journey to the Hotel from the Airport was approx an hour. Check in at the Hotel was fast and we were allocated a room on the top floor 508. When we opened the balcony door our reaction was WOW as we had a view of the beautiful bay. The room was basic but we only used it to sleep in so we were happy. We found the food in the resturant was always hot but there wasnt a great deal to choose from but enough to get by on. Most days they had Veal, Fish and Pork other days Chicken. A small selection of Salad, and always plenty of ice cream to go round.
The tables were always cleaned and new cutlery laid straight away.
Reception Staff were always very friendly and helpful.
Bar Staff friendly enough and worked long hours.
The Children's Entertainer "Rony" was very good with the Children he worked very hard and very long hours and was always happy to talk to everyone.
Our Room had clean Towels most days and i think the Sheets were changed, but thats about as far as the cleaning went. No cleaning was done. Our Holiday was spoilt in a way due to our Hand Luggage Bags being searched 2 days running and our clothes in the draws in a closed wardrobe had been rumaged through. There was no need for anyone but myself and my Son to go in the Wardrobe also our Bags were zipped up and kept in the Wardrobe. Both times when we returned to the room after the Maid had been in the bags had been unzipped. It was as if someone was searching for something. It left us feeling very uneasy. After this happened we left a do not disturb sign on the door so that no one could come into the room. We reported this incident to our Rep who reported it to The Hotel Management. It appears there are new cleaners on the 5th Floor. We had hired a safe and all our valubles were locked away. This did spoil our Holiday up to a point.
The Beach was nice but did get very busy. There were days when we couldnt go in the Sea due to the Jellyfish.
The Weather was perfect, we did have rain early one morning but it did clear up quickley.
The Pool was small and due to a lady complaining about Lilos and Rubber Rings the Children were not allowed to use these in the Pool so there were alot of dissapointed Children and Mums and Dads.
This Hotel is a must for people with Children, BUT it could be very noisy especially at night, some parents didnt seem to mind their Children running up and down the corridors shouting and screaming after midnight, this could be very annoying when your already in bed asleep and woken suddenly.
On the whole we did have a nice relaxing cheap break. We would not return to this Hotel but would return to Menorca as we have stayed in quieter Hotels on the Island before.

just returned from hotel cala,n, blanes.if your looking for a cheap and nasty place to stay, then this is it.
the blandest food repeated over and over again, watered down san miguel no decent shorts, crap coffee the list is endless.
the rooms are like the lottery some with balconeys others with just a window, about 8 top floor rooms have all the extractors and aircon units above them so its a bit like trying to sleep in a boiler room.then there,s the annexe above the kitchens not a nice place at all.
also not enough sunbeds to go round, there,s a big pile of broken ones in the car park,so there,s a mad dash in the mornings to secure one.
overall first choice could more to warn people about what type of accomodation you could expect to get.

Hotel Cala 'n Blanes

Having just returned from The Cala'n Blanes Hotel - I would agree with most of the comments previously posted. But the major thing that I found was that there was absolutely no time during either day or night that the hotel was quiet. I was aware that the hotel catered mostly for families, but still decided to book this hotel for me and my boyfriend because it ticked all the other boxes. HOWEVER, DO NOT, go to this hotel if you want to swim in a pool that has some space to swim in. Whilst they have a lifeguard he does not control what is going on at all. Teenagers bombing and generally putting everyone else at risk, was a situation that he took absolutely no notice of. The food was quite varied but unfortunately I found that most of the British toursists that were there stuck mostly to chips, they should have tried some of the other local dishes that were prepared, they were lovely. Our bedroom was small, with a balcony, but then this is a 3 star hotel so you get what you pay for. It would have been nice though to have sheets that actually fit the bed, i.e. double sheets on a double bed and not single sheets on a double bed. The staff throughout the hotel were hard working and pleasant at all times. The beach is lovely and I would recommend that you go to the beach instead of the pool. Overall we enjoyed our holiday and would recommend it to anyone who wants a noisy holiday.

“Lovely weather!”

Hotel Cala 'n Blanes

Returned from Cala'n Blanes yesterday. Amazing weather but hard to be so enthusiastic about rest of holiday. The highlights were the entertainment staff. Ronny works so hard and is amazing with the children! First Choice kids rep also good but the room where the kids go to is very dark & depressing. Stayed on an All Inclusive basis but food not very inspiring. When we first arrived we though was pretty good but soon found out it's basically the same every night. Always veal, pork and a fish dish. Chips always available. Did have a paella one lunch time but mussels very suspect so didn't touch. Although All Inclusive, food is only allowed to be eaten in the restaurant. This includes all snacks. If you're wet from being in the pool you have to dry off first before you can go into the restaurant and swimwear is not allowed! Hotel itself very clean and can't be faulted. Bar staff & restaurant staff not at all friendly although reception staff couldn't be more helpful. Not much to do in resort itself and, after going on an excursion, found Menorca is very quiet. Landscape is amazing and beaches are beautiful. Ideal place if you love history. Would recommend trip to Mahon market and Mahon port. Also, airport is being developed at the moment so departures lounge is in a bit of a mess at the moment. All in all, a nice holiday but not somewhere would want to return.

Just returned from our week holiday in cala n blanes hotel.Holiday overall was good but ruined towards the end. This was because i left 100 euros in my purse in my hotel room and when i later went to get my money it had gone,i personally believe it was the maids as no one else had acces to the room and a woman i spoke to later on the next night said she had her bingo winnings taken which was again 100 euros.
Food wasnt very varied, chips every single day which got boring.
The beach was beautiful shame about the jellyfish being there sometimes though!Location was good, not to far from the main shopping place.
If your going sometime soon keep your purse on you at all times!!
