Hotel;

The hotel itself was fairly nice, with two swimming pools, poolside bar, and lots of entertainment for the kids. However if you do not have children yourself this can get a bit annoying, i imagine during the summer holidays this hotel may be an ideal place for young families - so if you don't like kids stay elsewhere.

Room;

Our room was clean and generally quite nice, although on occasions we did smell sewage, This didn't seem to occur at any particular time and as we were not in the room except to sleep so we didn't complain. There were a number of really annoying things though. Firstly the cleaners would knock at the door to clean your room at any time from 8am. When you told them not to wake you up so early they did not understand, and despite us complaining to the reception they continued to wake us up. Secondly a t-shirt was taken from our room, probably by mistake, but when we complained to reception they did not seem to believe us, but said they would ask at the main laundry depot. We heard nothing despite making daily enquiries. No apology was given, nor was any compensation provided.

Hotel food;

We arrived late on our first night due to a late flight, and were impressed that we had been left a plate of food and fruit each, despite it being almost 11pm. This was a really nice touch, even though the food was not very nice. We were on a half board basis and had breakfast each day, but this became very repetitive. The fried breakfast was pretty awful, but the continental breakfast was ok. We looked at the menu most nights but chose to eat elsewhere, as it did not look very appetising.

Resort;

The resort is all relatively new and so it lacks any real character. There are two main beaches, but both of them are quite small and get full very quickly. So if you get the chance either go early in the day or go to a beach further away from the hotels. The water was crystal clear and the sand was very fine and clean. The only slight concern would be that there were a number of jellyfish and a few people were stung, including my gilfriend, but it was no more painful than a nettle. Lots of restaurants to chose from at reasonable prices. Not many bars and clubs so there were not really any young drunken yobs about either.

Overall we enjoyed Minorca, but would chose to stay somewhere other than Cala n bosch.

“Great place, just didn't realise everything closed for winter!”

We booked our half term holiday only a week before travelling and it was well worth it. I didn't quite realise that the whole island would be closing down for the winter and this of course meant the hotel too, so everywhere was quiet and none of the activities around the complex were on. However, the apartments (we had 267) were very spacious with a good sized bedroom, fantastic bathroom with 2 power showers, one above the bath and another in a seperate cubicle, bidet and enough storage space. The living area had 2 sofas/beds so in our case, one was made up permanently and we sat on the other. The kitchen equipment was standard, but there was a kettle and toaster included. The balcony overlooked the apartment in front of us, but it seemed that they had been built so that all balconies got the sunshine anyway and yes there were only 2 chairs out there, oh and an airer.

Our towels were changed daily, perhaps due to them not having the opportunity to dry out and the sheets were changed 3 times. Spotless, secure, spacious and nicely decorated.

The complex was very quiet, but I reckon even in peak season there would be enough room for everyone. It was a shame the daytime activities had stopped already, but the normal programme indicated there was something happening every hour or so, for both adults and children. There were normally 6 in the animation team and they were preparing to go home too, but managed to keep the kids amused for a while - including nightly mini disco at 9pm and bingo after. There was also further entertainment and a couple of professional acts. There is also an Airtours club, but our 6 year old wasn't interested.

We also paid for half board in the restaurant as it actually worked out cheaper. 15 euros for adults and 8 euros for under 12's per day for half board - always a good choice, hot and fresh - no complaints at all and being a buffet you could try lots of things.

So, yes the hotel was closing in a few days but I have no complaints and would love to go back either at the same time of year or in peak season.

The resort was compact and centred mainly around the marina, which is literally across the road, can't comment on the restaurants but we saw them close down one by one for the winter...

The beach was about a 5 minute walk and a lovely cove, gentle waves and really good sand for making castles. The other beach at Son Xoriguer was a nice walk too and worth it. We also discovered lots of other lovely coves, but that's the beauty of a car. We hired the car at the airport through ownerscars and explored loads, seeing other resorts and remote areas.

Overall, great holiday. Would definitely go back, but if next October half term would be prepared for it being a little cooler than we expected, especially at night time and wouldn't expect places to be open for business.

“Last Minute break at Cala'n Bosch”

We booked our stay 5 days before travelling,on our arrival we were more than happy with what we found.The apartment was very spacious,though there were only the 2 of us.We were a couple of minutes walk from the port area,which is where the bars and restaurants are.By the end of the week most of these had closed as it was the last week of the season.I would say that unless you just want to stay by the pool you would need a car to break up the holiday,but then I think this would hold true with any where on the Island.We had a great time,and would go back again any time.

i was alittle dissapointed in this hotel really..it was the school half term holidays...the weather wasnt great and the swimming pool was freezing..as were the apartmentments as there is no form of heating..the lcd tvs are a bit of a novelty as the picture was poor and was badly positiond dor the seetin area...the apartment was quite nice new buta bit unfinishd....we had no hot water the first nite,no toilet flush the second,then when fixd drippd and left a nasty smell.the no plug sockets the last nite...we didnt try the restaurant as it seemd a bit pricey for the average menu..much better restaurants around the marina...the resort was okbit small, a typical menorcan resort..on the plus side the entertainment was always good
