We booked our half term holiday only a week before travelling and it was well worth it. I didn't quite realise that the whole island would be closing down for the winter and this of course meant the hotel too, so everywhere was quiet and none of the activities around the complex were on. However, the apartments (we had 267) were very spacious with a good sized bedroom, fantastic bathroom with 2 power showers, one above the bath and another in a seperate cubicle, bidet and enough storage space. The living area had 2 sofas/beds so in our case, one was made up permanently and we sat on the other. The kitchen equipment was standard, but there was a kettle and toaster included. The balcony overlooked the apartment in front of us, but it seemed that they had been built so that all balconies got the sunshine anyway and yes there were only 2 chairs out there, oh and an airer.
Our towels were changed daily, perhaps due to them not having the opportunity to dry out and the sheets were changed 3 times. Spotless, secure, spacious and nicely decorated.
The complex was very quiet, but I reckon even in peak season there would be enough room for everyone. It was a shame the daytime activities had stopped already, but the normal programme indicated there was something happening every hour or so, for both adults and children. There were normally 6 in the animation team and they were preparing to go home too, but managed to keep the kids amused for a while - including nightly mini disco at 9pm and bingo after. There was also further entertainment and a couple of professional acts. There is also an Airtours club, but our 6 year old wasn't interested.
We also paid for half board in the restaurant as it actually worked out cheaper. 15 euros for adults and 8 euros for under 12's per day for half board - always a good choice, hot and fresh - no complaints at all and being a buffet you could try lots of things.
So, yes the hotel was closing in a few days but I have no complaints and would love to go back either at the same time of year or in peak season.
The resort was compact and centred mainly around the marina, which is literally across the road, can't comment on the restaurants but we saw them close down one by one for the winter...
The beach was about a 5 minute walk and a lovely cove, gentle waves and really good sand for making castles. The other beach at Son Xoriguer was a nice walk too and worth it. We also discovered lots of other lovely coves, but that's the beauty of a car. We hired the car at the airport through ownerscars and explored loads, seeing other resorts and remote areas.
Overall, great holiday. Would definitely go back, but if next October half term would be prepared for it being a little cooler than we expected, especially at night time and wouldn't expect places to be open for business.
